Available on a free transfer. He seems a decent player from what I've seen of him. Could provide cover or competition on ther right side of midfield.

I knowwe have enough players in this department, currently, but would he be a decent acquisition?

not really imo, not good enough for the scum and wouldn't get close to our first 11 or bench most games

we've already got Lennon as a RW and VDV who can start right and drift in so imo he'd be a waste on wages and squad place

good player for a newly promoted team to pick up

Spurs Chat? If so, we could create an individual thread for any player any one of us thought we should sign. This is what makes the site messy.

Considering how many people have criticized the signing of Pienaar, I doubt very much many fans would support the signing of Larsson, even on a free.

Also, we have to give serious consideration to how many midfielders will make our 25 for next season:

Modric (presuming we keep him)
Lennon
Bale
Sandro
Hudd
Pienaar
Jenas (?)
Palacios (?)

That's 8 even after excluding VdV and Kranjcar on the basis that Rafa probably takes a striker's spot and Niko will have left. Would therefore presume that we'll only look to bring in a midfielder if they are likely to start regularly. By your own admission Larsson would only really provide cover.

So, to sum up... naaaaa.

He's exactly the type of player, that ATM we're looking to sell not buy.

I don't know much about him to be honest, all I know is that he impressed the few times I've seen him. With O'Hara gone, if we get rid of Jenas, Palacios, and Krankjar then we have Hudd, Sandro, Pienaar, Bale, Lennon, Modric and VDV in midfield. Realistically only Lennon, Modric & VDV can play wide on the right, and the latter two are better deployed from the centre. That means there is effectively no competition for the wide right berth, and no viable option should Lennon get injured or suffer a dip in form. He also played at right back for Birmingham last season, another position we are suspect in.

Now, obviously, if there is a better player that we are are tracking, then by all means opt for him, but given that he is available on a free-transfer, he could be a good value signing.

Again, that is based on limited knowledge, and hence why I was interested in others opinions.

Good player, but not any more than Pienaar and Bentley who are already with us.
If someone was willing to pay big money for Bentley then Larsson would perhaps make some sense for us. Think Sunderland is a better move for him.

Not sure it's much between them,
but Bentley doesn't seem to have his head in the game.
There's a reason why we paid 15m for Bentley,
his peak is something Larsson have never come close to.

As long as we don't find a buyer for Bentley he's ours though,
and signing someone who isn't far better than Lennon wouldn't make much sense in my opinion.

Bentley couldn't get near the Birmingham team when he went there, and even if he is still ours, I think he has shown that is no sort of replacement for Lennon.

I also don't see us singing anyone who is "way better" than Lennon in the near future, because of the cost of signing such a player and the likely wages. That still leaves us short of cover for the right side of midfield. If we aren't going to pay big for a winger, or offer big wages, then we should consider alternatives. I think Seb Larsson, a player who can slot it at right back as well, on a free wouldn't be a bad option - unless there are better options out there.

Probably better than Lennon. I'd be happy with this signing.
