Correct me if I'm wrong but in his first season here partnering Dawson (the 4th place finish season) didn't we achieve one of our best premiership defensive records ever and didn't we have one of the best defensive records in the league? If that is the case then he couldn't have been that bad could he?

Also, and far more importantly, he was responsible for the goal against Liverpool that caused me to jump up in a sports bar in Frankfurt causing much consternation amongst the group of Eintracht Frankfurt fans around me.

Did you not get the script?

We ignore that season and just focus on his performances when he was robbed of confidence by Redknapp and chucked in when no one else could possible play. A much fairer reflection on the lads ability.

We have a history of moaning because we are the underachieving experts, and that builds up a high degree of frustration which is then released at times in a moaning manner. The fans are passionate, but there is only so many false dawns any fan can take.

I was at Goodison Park yesterday - Bassong was very very good, even before his goal. I never understood the 'get rid - he's useless' crowd - it was obvious with a run in the team he'd find form. Young defenders do not adapt to being in and out of the team as the old timers. It's always the same people jerking their knees...can't they have their own sub forum?

To be honest, I'd rather have Bassong before Gallas, but AVB obviously see's something in Gallas that 36,000 other fans don't.

That certainly is not my experience of supporting Spurs in the 60's, admittedly I was quite young and would have been far more interested in the match but I was totally unaware of supporters moaning, same in the 70's when we were really poor, after having a reasonably successful team and watching them slide I still have great memories of the supporters getting behind the team.
You know, that's what support means,
Oxford dictionary definition :
be actively interested in and concerned for the success of (a particular sports team): fans should always support their team fully, no matter what.
So how about this for a novel idea, our fans get behind the team and every player that pulls on the Spurs shirt, that would make a change wouldn't it, ..... second thoughts it might put the players into a state of shock.

Sebastien Bassong banned for driving at 110mph in Maserati
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-norfolk-41700507

Sounds bad till u read...

South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court heard he was caught speeding at 23:35 GMT after the mother of his children called to say she was "in a lot of pain".

A fine would be sufficient. He was rushing back for an emergency. It wasn't drunk driving or playing some real life GTA.

Yeah not so sure personally, a fine is no deterrent to a multimillionaire.
If she's in so much pain then call an ambulance, who's drivers are taught how to drive at speed, and also how to help her medically.

He could have killed someone and his wife maybe had kidney stones, what was he going to do? Perform surgery?.

Anyway, now he's suspended, will he miss the Newcastle game?

She may have called an ambulance, it doesn't say he was driving to her house, she may have been at the hospital.

Even less reason to be driving that fast then as she'd already be getting medical assistance.
Driving that fast is incredibly selfish.

I understand your point but at twentyfive minutes to midnight on an empty dual carriageway for about fifteen seconds, if my arithmatic is correct, is breaking the law but not as bad as the headline would make you believe. I just think in the same circumstances I know full well that I wouldn't keep to 70mph and I doubt anyone else would, not sure my car would like the 110mph though:(

They've been very lenient by only banning him for 40 days, at that speed you can get a much longer ban, also the fact he was worried it was kidney stones means he knew full well it wasn't life threatening.
If he'd been doing 80 or 90 even , he probably would've just got a slap on the wrist....I just feel a fine alone would do buggar all to deter a multimillionaire from doing it again, saying that I'm not sure being chauffeured around for 40 days will do much in that respect.
