Well what I would suggest to those people is, sometimes, you have to give people a second chance, i am sure we have all been guilty at some point of making inappropriate comments, hell, I was born in the mid 80's and grew up in the 90's the word faggot back then was thrown around as a general insult, I don't think many even realised it was homophobic in nature, you would see it on TV shows etc.

Not that it makes it right but obviously we all come from different cultural backgrounds and use words in different ways and times have changed now in many ways for the better, we have become slightly oversensitive in general now though but I can completely understand the condemning of homophobic slurs, especially with aggressive tone, I mean, I have had gay friends that have and still do, call each other fags but the context is what matters, this is why what Aurier did was unacceptable.

The main thing is the guy seems to have learned from his mistakes, he deserves a second chance, I do not subscribe to the modern witch hunt idea that if one person does something wrong one time then they should be condemned for it forever, people can and often do change in life and we ALL make mistakes, even though some people like to think they are perfect, I assure you, you're not perfect.

If this guy fucks up again then obviously we can cross that bridge when we come to it, I am sure Poch has already made him aware of this and I am sure he is more than aware of this himself.

But isn't that whole 'sometimes' thing the point though? Sometimes you should give people a chance but sometimes you're not in a position to.

Like I said, for me whilst I certainly am far from a big fan of his character it does seem like he's trying to make up for it. He knows they were mistakes and wants to work on bettering himself. The club seem to understand that as do one of our LGBT groups who were in conversations with the club. So for me, I'm glad that's happened.

I'm also aware for some they might have a harder time forgiving and moving on and I appreciate that. I have an issue with people who don't (not saying you're one of them).

So I'm happy Aurier is here and am welcoming him to the Tottenham family, I just get that not everyone will for valid reasons.

Takes number 24 shirt apparently (which I guess makes sense in some ways as he's 24 years of age).

Should have much preferred we left 22 for him but hey ho.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already but...
They were talking about him on The Totally Football podcast and saying how popular he was in the PSG dressing room. Apparently part of the problem with him was that he grew up on a council estate in Paris and some of the guys he grew up that weren't a great influence would often turn up at his house when he was playing for PSG. Obviously you aren't going to get that so much when you relocate to a different country.

Thats a problem that has followed Anelka, Bentaleb and other North African/Black french players. They grow up on the banileue and the guys that they grew up with they never stop hanging around with.

Yeah I was listening to that as well. Might be just what he needs to get away from bad influences etc. Then again, there's nothing stopping them all coming to London with him theoretically.

Hell, I was heard to utter a homophobic remark when I saw Niall Horan on the news this evening. But I get on just fine with gay people. Too much being made of this.

19 is his preferred number I think?

What are you talking about? I'm not stereotyping anyone, just repeating what Julien Laurens said. He said that because he grew up in Paris, all his mates he grew up with are constantly around and basically all just live at Aurier's house and therefore they could be a bad influence on him, as was seen when they did that whole periscope thing.

I'm not saying they're bad people or whatever it is you're trying to twist my words to mean, but I know from my own experience that it's hard to concentrate/focus/be professional when you're constantly surrounded by your mates and all the distractions that go with it, so the point was that if he moves away from his hometown he might not have so many distractions and/or bad influences around him all the time so will find it easier to knuckle down.
