Not the Rose thread but I reckon the best thing to do with him is to bring in players such as Aurier, Barkley, Martial etc as a statement of our ambition. Then of course we can promise him a new deal with a decent pay rise providing he cuts out the whinging and gets on with his job for a few months. If he's still a problem then no biggie for me we have 6 months to find a replacement and we flog him next summer.

I can't lie. The attitude problems worry me, especially now that we've seen first hand something like it with Danny Rose.

But in pure footballing terms, Aurier is the best of the RBs we've been linked. The closest there is to Walker too.

And why should we care about what he said about his PSG team mates? It's not our squad. Many players have said or done bad things in a club, then moved to a new club and never repeated their bad behaviour.

Because knowing Levy, the contract will be chock full of "bad behavior" clauses - he'd probably end up owing the club 18M and agreeing to a 3 year loan at Vladivostok. Not to mention Dier would clean his fackin clock.

In general he's got a habit of making really dumb social media videos. That at best get him banned by UEFA and at worst make a dressing room distraction and get him banned from the club.

He keeps making these videos and apologizing though, so for some it's all good.

He also drew criticism for his throat slitting gesture against another rival west African nation during the same game that he helped save the guy from choking during an epileptic fit, but I don't see that one as that bad - just dumb.

I had forgotten about the referee thing - everything else happened within like 2 months of each other right? Unless he's continued slagging his teammates off all last year, which I haven't seen. I think people are bundling it up into one big bender of bad choices, rather than "repeated behavior". I dunno what steps he's taken to "reform" since then, but it says something that although PSG froze him out completely initially, they did try to reintegrate him and want to keep him. Not sure what exactly, but something.

I also think this is the kind of signing where Poch will certainly have spoken to the player, and wouldn't say "sí" unless he was convinced that shite was behind him. Not that Poch can't be wrong, but at this point I trust him an irrational amount.

Also encouraging is that this is happening pre-deadline-day, where it would feel like a desperate grab at a problem player - being interested two to three weeks out means it may actually be a player we want..
