Head and shoulders above any of our current midfield players, I doubt we'll get him but if we are to show serious ambition this is who we need.

No chance, unfortunately. They want crazy money for him.

Would love nothing more than to sign this bloke. 2 problems. His price tag, and the fact he is reportedly wanted by United, Manchester City, Spurs, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Would likely be the single best signing we could make this window. With that said I have this at 0.01% chance of happening.

Personally speaking, until we make ONE STATEMENT, we are not at the races

I've tried to unravel this but haven't had any sleep for a week with new baby. Can someone help me out as to what the statement is? Is that the signing of the magic one? :)

Statement signing required to usher us into the new stadium?

Best Dembele replacement in World football.

Have been saying for ages that if we want to be considered a big club, if we lose a top player like Moussa we have to replace him with a player like this rather than a development player.

Agreed, but don't think we're going to do that. Just as we're about to do with Toby.

Assuming this is in reference to De ligt? In which case yeah for sure, but also think the CB situation is slightly different this window. We already have 2 highly competent, experienced replacements in Jan and Sanchez, as well as Dier and Foyth so a development prospect, especially one with the potential of De Ligt isn't the end of the world.

In CM, however, we just have nobody to match Dembele's quality (on his day), and a pure prospect would weaken us far more significantly, in an area where we've needed to strengthen since Modric, in my opinion.

From his perspective I do think we would be a fantastic fit over many teams. PSG and Barcelona are clearly better playing options as I think he would walk into either. But ManU's midfield has been a mess, City & Madrid are incredibly crowded, Chelsea seems to be in complete turmoil right now and not too mention PSG's locker room seems like a bit of a mess.

I would absolutely love it if we signed this guy. We wouldn't need many more signings to be genuine title contenders.

Don't think we'll get anywhere near him sadly, but would cause shockwaves through the EPL if we did get him.

Whether it’s him or another guy we definitely need to buy a starting XI central midfielder. That’s going to cost a lot. Not sure we have the stomach for that personally unless we bring in serious cash via sales.

I think this is very unlikely isn't it? He'll cost north of £80m and will earn c. £200k a week, and will expect to be playing for a side for who that sort of investment is typical, rather than exceptional.

Would be a game changing signing, but I think, sadly, it's not going to happen
