It's a shame we couldn't offer 55 mil, Dembele and maybe an extra 5 mil for winning the league and another 5 mil for winning the CL for this kid. Or something like this. I understand not wanting to spend 80 odd mil on anyone, but some sort of partial swap.
Sorry Ghost, you’re a good poster but I genuinely don’t understand comments like this. How is spending an asset, worth a certain amount of cash, any better than selling the asset elsewhere for cash, then spending that cash instead? If we wouldn’t do one, we won’t do the other. The swap gains us nothing at all, other than complicating the deal unnecessarily. Either way is exactly spending 80 mil. In fact doing it this way includes all the Dembele money as essentially an up-front payment, making it even worse for us.

Your last point isn't really true as we'd also get all the money we would have got for dembele upfront if we swapped him. So wouldn't be better or worse.

I get what you're saying, I'm just going of ITK that we won't spend more then 60 odd mill and the assumption that if we sell Dembele we probably won't get the fee in one lump sum but more likely installments over years. On top of that Lazio will have a ready made quality replacement so may be willing to give a slight discount on Savic. If they sell they will have to look for a replacement and this way they wouldnt have to look and would probably get a better quality one in Dembele. It was completely a hypothetical and one that will obviously not happen. It was purely a midmorning muse.

He seems like a box to box number 8, a sort of more technically able Fellaini. He would be a very interesting addition to the squad, but if we signed him I still think we'd need a number 6. I haven't seen enough of Savic to know if he could fill that role, but it seems like he prefers to burst forward than dictate from deeper positions.

Mate, he is so good and Fellaini shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as him!

Only similarity is their height...

Well obviously in terms of technical ability he is way ahead but there are some similarities in the way he uses his height and strength. I just worry he's a bit enigmatic. It would be very interesting to see where he would fit into the team.

He essentially played at no.10 against Costa Rica the other day. He'd be best alongside Eriksen in a 3 imo. With Wanyama/Dier behind them

Yeah i'd probably agree with that, but where does that leave Dele? I think there's more need for a number 6 in the DM position that can dictate a game.

I assume Martial was the reason we weren't initially planning to spend big on CM. Now that it looks like Martial is less likely and we've allegedly bid for Plea, it would make sense the budget could shift from high-attacker/low-mid to low-attacker/high-mid?

So haha wtf, this guy is worth something like 100000 billion euros? Even SC:s most hated Shaqiri, "the fat ****" seems to be playing much better. But yes, I'm totally aware this is just a one game, I'm just pissed off because I have to be at home doing Kalsarikännit when everybody else is celebrating midsummer day in their summerhouses...

Pretty crap tonight. Much better in the Costa Rica game when he was arguably MOTM.

lol so many world cup experts on here now. I don't know much about Savic but I know that if you based Messi off of yesterday's performance alone you'd be a fool.
