Think everibody would like the concept, but think we would need to see that he can play at the level we need from time to time in order to fulfill the 3rd striker role before we need him to do that for us.
Ideally he will score a few more for York to earn a lace in the pre-season squad - and with Harry likely to away with E u21's and (hopefully) Adebayor and Soldado off, the new incoming striker will need rotation in pre-season so giving Shaq a chance to see if he is good enough for the 3rd striker role.
But think he's still got a way to go.
Agree with a lot of this.
I, as much as it seems like I don't, try and remain as objective as possible with our youth players. Coulthirst while he seems to have had somewhat of a revival in the last month I would not consider him ready to be our 3rd striker from what I have seen so far this season. If he can improve and have a good end of season and preseason then ye it would be a decent idea and would save us money on buying a 3rd choice replacement. i'm sure Chadli and him could be emergency 3rd striker and take it from there.
The thing is with Coulthirst is he has never been in the top bracket of our young players he's always been on the next rung down like a Sonupe. His development was somewhat stifled as a striker due to Coulibaly and I think he lacks some of the natural striker movement and finishing though his goals the other day suggest otherwise
Considering some people still doubt Pritchard being good enough for the Prem or Onomah being ready for the EL I can't quite see how people think he is ready for the 3rd striker spot yet. Those 2 and the other top rung players we have, either stood out or excelled in the NextGen and u21 leagues. Coulthirst played well and was vital to the team but not quite at that level. What he has going for him though is a lack of competition and so if he wants it enough and works hard I would love to see him grab that 3rd striker spot next year.
Coulibaly is second-choice RW for US Pistoiese 1921, who play in the third league in Italy, where he is on loan from Bari, who picked him up last year.I thought Coulibaly was second choice to Shaq? I know he has stalled but I thought he was looking really strong a few years back.

Na the way I saw it if they were both fit and playing in the same team like the NextGen Shaq would go left wing and Coulibaly uptop
I always thought Shaq was the better player I know they both played at the same time but I thought Sc was second to SC oh dear

Fan Comments - all that mention Shaq, and generally pretty positive :
Once again Shaq looks a class above this level, and was great to watch on the ball
Coulthirst looks full of confidence, trickery and running,
Shaq had his moments as usual and does have that bit of quality at times, something sadly missing most of the time.
Shaq worked his socks off and took a lot of abuse. Who says loan players aren't playing for the shirt? He was immense
Coulthirst worked hard all game and getting back when needed
Sorry but I never saw the class of Coulthirst apart from one moment just before he was subbed.
A great win today against a side well set out who could have grabbed a win. They had a plan and largely neutralized Jake and Shaq in the first half
On the subject of coulthirst, there are three different types of loanee in my experience. one that has a contract running down and is looking to find a new club, one who doesn't give a **** and has the big time charlie attitude and then the one who just wants to play football and will give their best because this is their job and it's what their parent club are paying them for. that is this boy, a credit to the loan system and he could well secure us survival. excellent again today,
Lovely comments and great to hear even the one who said I don't see what he does apart from one thing. Sounds like the type who can't spot certain things so if he eventually saw something it's positive. last comment is great for his attitude and it shows how our pressing system through the youth has benefited him as he's clearly used to just running around.
Regarding abuse comment. Do you know if it meant that he was getting abuse from the fans ours or his or that he was receiving big challenges from the opposition. Hope it's the later as be sad to hear he's getting stick for no particular reason
Seems to have some great traits, composure and finishing instinct, and a bit of pace about him. Whether its enough I don't know, I would need to see a lot more of him and also see how he does with better team mates. But if I was Poch I'd give him pre-season to show he should be part of the first team squad. If he isn't, send out on loan again and see how he develops
Agree with all that. If Kane is off with the E u21's I hope that Poch does take the opportunity to take a look inpre-season.as even if we buy another striker we will need to rotate and Coulthirst will be the only natural striker alternative we have.
And if we buy Danny Ings and he goes with E u21's too, he may be the only natural striker alternative.
I'm pre-judging things, but I'd suggest that at best he's be a no 3 striker candidate - but a good pre-season with Spurs could earn him a loan with a Championship side.
If he has that good of a pre season, maybe it would be worth keeping him around as a 3rd striker?Agree with all that.
