The other day he had a bbc sport article titled “Manchester City could dominate the premier league for the next few years”...

I mean ffs. Really? Needless to say i didnt feel it was worth reading.

Get rid of all all of them.

Alan needs to stop being a grade A **** to make it as a decent pundit let alone a good one.

I'm struggling to see anything remotely controversial about Shearer's comments. In fact, he's right - if not this time, then the same applies in 4 years.

Kane scores prolifically in domestic football. Now he has to find out how to do the same against Brazil, Germany, Spain and Argentina. It's part of his development. Which is what Shearer is saying, having had the experience upon which he can base his comments, unlike all the knee-jerk respondents on this thread.

And anyone who think Shearer never brought it in a tournament obviously didn't see the 1996 EC, specifically the 4-1 win against Holland. Gascoigne, Anderton and Sheringham played in that game too.

To be fair, Shearer never says “like me”. You could argue he wasn’t a true global star, never made any headway in Europe, Premier League wasn’t as big globally then, he played for an unfashionable team and a lot of his acclaim came later on after scoring tonnes in the league.

Maybe he’s being humble and suggesting that Kane learns from his life - where he missed/didn’t have good tournaments due to injury so take the chance when you can.

That said, maybe he’s not and he means tournaments in general, as he obviously had a great Euro 96.

In which case, some meaningless details: just by playing Kane will equal Shearer’s World Cups attended and he needs 2 goals to equal Shearer’s all-time World Cup scoring record.

Also Kane scored 7 times more Champions League goals this season than Shearer did in his career. Kane has a better rate of scoring in the league, Europe and in internationals. Shearer will know all this.

Kane is 24. Shearer was 25 at Euro 96 and he only ever played in one World Cup. I think this is where his head is at.

The point he is making is actually valid, Kane was not good in the last tournament for England and hes saying he needs to show hes better than that

It’s obvious the next step for Kane is to score goals at World Cup level he’s done so at CL. Given the right formation and players around I see no reason why Kane won’t....I personally feel Alli along with Kane and Sterling are England’s best chance.
