Love the idea of Shelvey. Just what we need in the middle of the park. Haven’t always been a fan of the player - but he’s certainly upped his game this year.

Shelvey has always been a good player - was really good for Liverpool when given a run when they had injuries in midfield but they then harshly dropped him once regulars back.

Surprised he isn’t in England squads, although his temperament and penchant for getting sent off probably works against him. That’s and he looks like he who must not be named.

Lol!
And if we signed them I could guarantee massive threads appearing during the season about how shit they are and we need the likes of ______to reach the next level, not mid table bargains

Shelvey simply does not have the engine to play in Poch team, or the discipline for that matter. Lovely hollywood passes but he is not discipline, he'd leave us very exposed.

Also for a player with such ability his stats are pretty poor. Shelvey has managed just one goal and two assists all season, meanwhile his passing accuracy is shocking 71%, that is lower passing accuracy than Lloris.

As I've said elsewhere great at those hollywood balls, always trying for them. Doesn't always make the best decisions though, doesn't know when to slow things down and just keep the ball.

Similarly, Shelvey long passing is much more effective against teams, like us, that play a high line, less so against teams that sit deep and give little space between the defense and goalkeeper.

Im all for Zaha, but he's not a priority.

Zaha is best with space to run at isolated defenders. Not sure he’d be too effective faced with a parked bus.
Dunno, its true to an extent, but Zaha has something genius about him, by far the best dribbler in the league. Its even about his productivity. Whenever he is on the ball the opposition defense shits itself. Imagine bringing him on for the ten minutes, the fear and the tired legs of the opposition, I'd be excited.

Zaha his not a Walcott or even a Lennon people who principally rely on pace to get past people, he just has that technically ability to glide past people. The fact he is quick as well is just a massive bonus.

Oh yeah, he's definitely capable in tight spaces and good on the ball, but I don't think he'd replicate his Palace form were he playing for us. Last ten minutes, he'd be deadly - but I don't see him being happy with that role.

Zaha would ultimately frustrate because I feel although great he doesn't produce enough end product in his position. Plus I feel we already have Moura who is similar skill wise and with a better final ball.

The areas we really need to address are wingbacks and CM. In Kane Alli Eriksen Son we have enough fire power Moura could be added to that list.

When it comes down to it, I trust Poch to look at the areas that need addressing. If that includes bringing in a Gelson or a Zaha in addition to the other areas that have been highlighted, then that's absolutely fine by me.

(IIRC someone was saying (Herc?) Poch wanted as many options as Liverpool in attack. He's also worried about us becoing predictable, someone said...)

Whatever happens, we need to add quality this year. This is the window I've been patiently waiting for since the failure of the magnificent 7. High hopes.

They're both players I'd take on the (relatively) cheap to be rotation options at Spurs, but I wouldn't want us to spend the combined £70m it would probably take to get them.

It's not my money I know, but that statement carries the assumption that if we don't spend it on them, we spend it elsewhere instead.

If it's them or nothing, then yes please.

Shelvey... a cross between Pirlo and Hoddle... Are you pulling my plonker????????

I’ve just come into this thread from another, where the question is should/would we buy Fabregas... what the hell is going on around here today?!
