If Liverpool can cruise to Champions League football with pub players for a defence then surely this has to be the way forward.

The ECL puts similar stresses on the squad as the Europa, however the club is compensated with significantly increased prize money. The added bonus of being able attract a higher calibre of player is alo welcome. Two things that the Europa does not offer.

Liverpool are going to find it difficult next year and so will Everton. In the meantime Arsenal remain in the ECL netherworld, unable to genuinely compete for either of the big prizes.

All will be a moot point when we secure Europa qualification today.

Spot on. Europa is a poisen chalice. The financial benefits are a joke in comparison to just qualifying for CL even if you get to the Europa final.
To those who want us in it, ask yourselves this, would Liverpool with their squad have finished 2nd had they been in europe?
Also, you could assume Arsenal probably would have walked the league if that had been
their only target.
And the idea of us fighting on both fronts with the hope of getting lucky in one is cloud cuckoo imo.
The Europa is going to be even more competitive now. Can anyone seriously see us getting that far?
Play youth and fringe players and see how far we get. Playing catch up every Sunday sucks arse. Concentrate on PL & domestic cups.
If we get any manager worth his salt this is what will happen.
If not we'll be looking at 6th or 7th finish again I bet my left maple nut.

People are stuck in the dark ages of what constitutes success. The odd cup win once a decade or so is meaningless now.
