Sherwood reveals Rose switch idea

This explains why we did not upgrade Rose in Jan.
It wasn't necessarily a bad idea.
But in practice it didn't work and this was very clear early on in the (pre) season. Rose is not a LB.

He is not a winger either as he cannot cross to save his life.
He might be a wide striker, as he does have an eye for goal.

Didn't Martin O'Neill mention that he wanted to try Rose at DM but we requested that he play LB when we sent him on loan?

is there such a position as wide striker. I would suggest behind the lone striker, just in the hole where no one can pick him.

Eriksen is clearly free to roam, which is fine for him; however, it leaves Rose on his own on the left flank and if he is being asked to push up (as some have suggested elsewhere) then you need someone to backfill. I dunno, maybe a Defensive Midfielder? (oops, sorry, don't believe in those things do we!)

Exactly. Eriksen is a complete liability (defensively) when playing at left midfield - he has made many bad mistakes that have led to goals or chances - so that doesn't help Rose.

Our defence as a whole (excepting Lloris) has been poor and it (and indeed the whole side) has rarely been settled from one week to the next. Add this to tactical shambles, dubious coaching and the fact that Rose is still young, maybe low on confidence, and you could see how all these things combined could add up to affect his form.

He clearly has ability - we seem to forget that he was young player of the year at Sunderland - so I'm sure he can be a much better player with proper coaching and in a better team set up. I find it a bit sad how much we can turn on our own players when they're not doing well.

Fact is that none of our players have played with distinction this year (aside from Lloris and, maybe, lately Eriksen). One or two players not playing well is one thing, but when it's that many players you have to look deeper inside the club - at the management (and, yes, that includes AVB as well as TS).

Didn't need to read the article; the main paragraph is enough to tell you that Sherwood is clutching at straws in the faint hope that he's retained as manager next season. I'm surprised he hasn't taken credit for moving Modric and Bale into positions where they became superstars and then negotiating the transfers fees when we had to sell them!!

However looking at the reaction from you lot the media got exactly what it wanted.

Sherwood is getting manipulated by the press and fans who dont like him jsut use it as a springboard. It's unjust.

In a 4-3-3, when it is played properly, all 3 front men are looking to get in the box and score. Rose has that desire imo.

The other thing I like about him is when he goes flipping through the air like an acrobat. It is quite spectacular and always gives me a laugh.

I think there may be a reason you call yourself ultimateloner, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is.
