When I heard that the Football Association had announced a new vision for the way it wants young footballers to play when they are representing England...

Yet again Tim speaking mostly sense but because it's Tim and the manner that he works, he'll get shot down on here.

I'm not a fan of his but if he had a personality transplant he could have become a very good manager.

If he's so 'passionate' about youth development it seems a bit strange that he announced that he wouldn't go back to it. He seems to have been pretty good at it and was far enough off the radar to just get on with his job. Shame we lost him in that respect but as a Manager I thought he was out of his depth.

It has to be said, he does make some accurate statements at times and does highlight issues that prove out in the end. His personality was an issue though, which he may temper, so maybe he'll get a chance with a smaller club soon.
The need for two forwards was right, the choice of two non defensive midfielders against top teams was not. The handling of Ade was admirable, but his hands may have been tied and he may have been trying to get something out of the 'asset' Levy was backing at the time.
His use of youngsters was exactly what we as a club needed to push ahead with and Bentaleb is showing signs of becoming a Michael Carrick esque player, which isn't too shabby. I hope he makes it somewhere.

Well balanced view, and in particular where he states that managers will never look towards promoting youngsters because in the modern game managers just do not get the time to develope the kids in first team football. That's where Fergie got it right at Man Ure by persisting with the likes of Giggs, Beckham, the Neville brothers, Butt, and Scholes.

I think there's a lot of irrational hatred for the man on here

He didn't do a bad job (not great but certainly better than I expected him to) and though I am sure none of us wanted him to stay on and be our manager long term he's really done very little to warrant all the hate he gets (especially when compared to the wankfest AVB still seems to recieve)

This is a decent article and he's speaking sense, as he frequently does. I really believe that if his quotes were attributed to someone else but word for word the same they'd be very well received on here but because it's Sherwood people have default responses of hatred

Nobody has really made a negative comment on this article and reading it I can see why. He is talking sense here.

As others have said he is good at developing young players and if he tempers he personality a bit he can go on to be a good manager. I think we made him manager before he was really ready.

I also think he should have been prepared to go back to his previous job but his pride obviously wouldn't let him do that. Which is a shame for him and the club.

The thing about Sherwood is that he had a great opportunity to manage the helm and then go back to the youth squad to continue what he was apparently doing very well. However, he had the hubris to demand a long contract. It is clear who was briefing the media about what was happening behind the scenes during AVB's stay, which was undermined by Tim's friends in the jingoistic right-wing press, especially The Daily Mail. Maybe the reason he's not taken up opportunities is because he wants to be a football writer; or maybe no one thinks he's good enough yet. I know that will upset those who were happy with a bit of Harry-lite, but I would suggest they read the last paragraph again as a mirror towards their own denigration of some of our players. The thing is that Pochettino jumped at the chance to bring through the youth players we have, because it sounds like they are very good.
