Woeful shooting goes a long way to explaining Tottenham's loss at home to Newcastle.

It wasn't a case of inaccurate shooting rather shooting at defenders - most of the shots got deflected for corners.

Which never helps cause after the corner has been delivered, we are either defending a counter attack, or passing the ball back to Lloris.

We would be better just pretending the deflections never happened and tell the ref "No ref its a goal kick" and try and get back in position

We looked a lot more of an attacking threat with both Kane and Soldado on the pitch. I like Lamela, but for the next game I'd be tempted to drop one of him or Chadli for Harry, and bring in Soldado for Adebayor (who aside from his goal contributed nothing).

I think where we're really struggling at the moment is our lack of width. In Poch's system this has to come from the full backs and ours just aren't good enough. Rose has looked much improved but unfortunately cannot cross a ball. Dier is not a right back and it shows in an attacking sense. I'd be tempted to try Lennon at right back in the Europa League, see if he can play there.

Well i'd expect more of a threat with two strikers on the pitch rather than one, irrespective of who the pairing is.

As for the lack of width, playing Chadli/Eriksen/Lamela together in the forward three has never given us width. Rose was the only one on Sunday who actually got down the wing and crossed the ball. Only when it was too late did Poch introduce Lennon as a last roll of the dice. Unless Poch changes to for example a 4-3-3 expect more of the same. Oh, and more than likely the same result.

I was going to make the point that shots were deflected rather than simply inaccurate, particularly in reference to this:
Most wasteful was Christian Eriksen who had five shots without landing one on target....
.
I was about to agree with your post, but think it's a little harsh. It's not so much shooting straight at defenders (although there is some of that), but defenders getting in the way to block shots.

Agreed! :)

Do other teams have a <1% scoring rate from corners too? There just seems no point to them. I can't remember us scoring from a corner since the old Anderton-Sheringham combo. It's like they've been tactically defended out of existence.

Its now considered a requirement to head lock and wrestle your man to the ground at corners and set pieces. No one does this against us though as theres hardly any threat.

The shot ratio is down to us not creating good chances so people may be having a go without enough space or form distance.
