Should Getafe game be advertised?

As tickets seem to be selling slowly would it be a good idea to have press/radio ads for the game? Maybe bring in a few newcomers to the Lane?

no...we will get near capacity because we are a proper club unlike Chelski and Fulham who have to advertise for their games on radio and tubes...

well, it's not at all clear at the moment we will get near capacity.

I take the point that such advertising sends out negative messages, in part at least, but it also gives us an avenue into the 'floating fans' market, some of whom if tempted to the Lane may become 'converts'.

Perhaps, we should wait this time to see the crowd, but if it is less than 33,000 maybe advertising should be contemplated for similar sales patterns in future

Speaking of the Getafe game: who's going? I guess you will be RMY. Anyone else?

:) RMY - hope you enjoy the game

My point exactly too about adverts - if some spurs fans don't realise the game is so soon, it's very likely there are thousands of 'possible fans/attenders' out there who haven't got a clue the game is on next Thursday and so many tickets are available

Saw it on the telly for the first time today. ITV 4 I think.

If people need to be reminded that the game is on, I would suggest they are not really 'fans' anyway and would not create any better atmosphere?

well 'floating fans' may not do much for the atmosphere, but they still buy the tickets if they come.

And as mentioned previously some 'floating fans' may become 'real fans' and then can add atmosphere

Let's be honest there's already a well-established tranche of 'real fans' at the Lane that don't add much to the atmosphere most games anyway.

Never fear, Stoof will be there! Ably accompanied by talkshowhost86 (not that talkshowhost85 - ****) and jimbo (not of Jet Set fame :-().

I bought the tickets 5 minutes after going on sale. Think I may have misjudged the demand!

Well done Stoof and all those going - here's hoping for a good crowd - but near capacity may be a bit optimistic - but time will tell etc

The best advert would be to beat Newcastle tonight. A 1-0 to Spurs, following a good defensive and more importantly goalkeeping display, would change the whole athmosphere.

I'm debating if I should go or not, as I'm now going to the blackburn game and the blackpool game. 3 games in a week - the missus may well hurt me!

Same same. Although if my missus hurts me, it will be a case of self-mutilation. And I'm not a fan of that ... so 3 games in a week for ol' Stoof.
