A metaphorical question, as I can not see it happening unless it is forced - But Harry has been off his game for a fair chunk of time. Yes I know he has carried on scoring, but his overall game has diminished to the point of being hardly effective. I don't buy the argument that he isn't getting the chances, one of his big strengths was creating something out of nothing, because he was busy, he hassled, he passed, he was part of the team not apart from it. So should Kane be considered a starter right now?

Right now it seems that dropping Kane should be an inevitability. It's Poch's choice of course, but there is a genuine alternative from where I'm standing.

Absoultely he should. Pack him on holiday for a fortnight and then fire him up for Barca.

I think pointing to Kane is a simplification. We need to make it easier for him on the pitch when he himself is lacking a tad of this best match fitness.

Let's hope Poch stiffens his backbone and drops Harry for a bit. Now he has Son, Moura & Lamela - he has options that can work in a different system. Not sure how brave Poch is, but right now I don't see another option given our recent run. If we had started the season looking brilliant, then things might not be too bad going forward.

Champions league, no. League next weekend, yes.

But play him alone up top.

I personally don't point the finger just at Kane, but when you build your whole attacking options around one player who is clearly suffering (injury niggle or just plain old knackered?), then you tend to hit a brick wall. Papering over the Kane cracks won't help him long term.

I agree - play him up top alone tell him to fuckin stay there. Get back to basics. I also agree that after Inter, he gets a two week break (Brighton and Huddersfield we should be good enough and if we arent then we have issues)

The problem is - is two weeks enough?

I put yes. but....
i think 2 things are going on.
(1) he needs a rest....
(2) having done his ankle in last season, its only going to get weaker over time. He needs wrapping up in cotton wool, and taken out of the toy soldier box for special occasions for a while. Until then we need someone else to step up and fill the position for the weaker teams.
(3) its not just him. half the team look like they missed pre-season...
(4) l'poo' are a decent team.

ok 4 things....

He's a young fella with 2 kids as well so there can be non football issues they may pray on your mind, maybe he doesn't get enough rest because he has an image to live up to as well 24 hours a day.
I do believe that with every injury he gets that it takes some of him away as he isn't to my eyes the player he was and something is definitely up with him and it could easily be external pressure.

I understand we cannot rest Kane when Son was in the Asian game. Now Son is back, rotation is possible. (Sorry llorente)

No. Eriksen needs to start playing, he's getting no service
Eriksen doesn't play for England & I would most def argue that Kane looked no different in the WC to what he does now. Kane's problems are not down to Eriksen.

Surely it should be. Two weeks with 2 a days in the cold tub.

the trouble is Son hasn't had a break either. over the next month we have 4 league games where we could really get away with what we used when he was injured at the end of last season, the trouble is we have 2 very important CL matches.

I love Moura but he is taking too much away from Harry at the moment, if Moura could drop deeper then perhaps Kane can be more the focal point he has been before and then see how tired he really is
