Hate the phrase "cheeky bid", as though that makes the prospect of the player joining just that bit more realistic.

ManU able to offer him £150k a week for his next contract, after his current £100k a week(remember, we couldn't match Liverpool's £90k a week for Joe Cole, which now seems a blessing), and City seemingly willing to pay £250k a week to him, tells you the realities of the situation.

Maybe an off shoot to this thread - Who will never be the same again: Torres or Rooney?

I half expect Rooney to completely full of the wagon in a Best or Gazza way soon. My bet being he messes someone up in a violent confrontation. Torres seems a shadow of his former self. I'm thinking he is desperate to get away from the Premier League.

Prefer the wife, actually. Rarely up for it, but I know where she's been.

Anybody who uses the word cheeky in regards to a player needs to be shot. That is all.

No it's 2012 but Man Yoo never usually let a top players contract run down past two years so Roo is obviously holding them to ransom.

It's another example of the Glazers fcuking up a good thing. Apparently they've decided change that two year policy to a ONE year policy in an effort to some money (apparently there's a bit of a debt problem) hence the reason for the latest drama...at ManU and in this thread.

At the moment I can't decide which is funnier.

i think we should try and bid for him now that its clear he wants to leave

he is 24, a perfect age for our growing team.

Is this a serious thread?

Rooney is a world class player who commands world class wages and would wanna play for a world class team. We are a very good team but in no way can we afford his wages, he would wanna join a team where he could win titles now and his trasfer fee would be atleast 30m.

Cheeky doesn't come into it. This thread is pointless.

Yeah it's a piss take thread, more to actually discuss the player.

Personally speaking, I wanted him dropped from the England squad before it went to the world cup. He is a fucking liability and his ego is now far to inflated, for how he has actually performed.

I'm not even convinced he is that good a player, certainly not on the same level as Messi / Ronaldo that he was being compared to.

Rooney is an alright player but we can't afford too many English players if we are serious about EPL/CL success. Already we are becoming 'top heavy' with English players. Although Rooney is english born...he is not 'classic english'...player-wise nor personality-wise? He has the non-english trait that makes him more of a world class. That said....his experiences with England have 'branded' him for life....sad but true (if only he had taken his chance with a decent international side lol). I would suspect that he WILL move to one of the Top Euro Leagues and progress further! COYS!

What? Genuinely, I'm not sure that any of that makes any kind of sense - logically or grammatically. Could you elaborate please?

As I've mentioned before we are one World Class striker away from being an exceptional side with players that are not yet at their prime. I doubt we'd even get a look in, but it would be worth a try. We could even use some of the money that Utd gave us for Berba and Carrick! I think that he's City bound for 500k a week!
