I remember the Sweden-Denmark Red card as well. Poulsen thumped him, which was pretty stupid. But he thumped him in the stomach and the Swede went down like he had a broken jaw. Ho hum - I think I'm in danger of making excuses for Poulsen because he's a potential Spurs player, which would of course be hypocritical....

I do know that we haven't had a proper enforcer since the days of Roberts and Miller. Although my father told me of a wet night in Swansea when the newly signed Ardiles was getting trampled on by ex-Liverpool animal, Tommy Smith. Apparently, a certain Ricky Villa sorted Smith out on the pitch. Villa was not a dirty player, but he knew how to use his size when needed. Sometimes you need to fight fire with fire, and I don't think the likes of Jenas are ever going to intimidate an opposition hardman...

Poulsen is a very good player, highly rated in the Spanish League. He can play as DM in front of the defense or as a center back. Very intelligent, tactical and with good technique. If signed he certainly is going to make the team tick more than any other CMs Spurs have at the moment from what I've seen of your team.

first berbati = berbatov and now Juande has joined SC!!!

This site is bloody fantastic!!

I can definately see a player of this type joining us in January. It may not be Poulson (who I have admired for years via Football Manager) but it'll be someone in his mould. My god we need someone like that! Let's make that 2 infact...

Silva for left wing? *dreams*

This the guy I mentioned on another thread yesterday, I could see Ramos converting Kaboul into a midfielder aswell to partner Poulsen, so we would have a probable midfield line of:

Lennon.....Kaboul.....Poulsen.....Bale

Thats two hard bastards in the middle with two natural width players and also a natural left footer with a good cross on the left wing, now all we need is teach Lennon how to cross and we have the making of a very good midfield.

Like when we had Tarricco, who was awesome because he was a cheating bastard!

loved tarrico just for that, he kicked lumps out of people and wound so many players up, he is still one of my favourite players that we have had.

Kaboul isn't a midfielder, his passing is miles off. I would imagine he would do better trying to convert Jenas into the type of midfielder he likes, all action, a closing down machine. At least we know JJ has the stamina to do it. As for Poulsen, are Sevilla going to let us have him? Again I say no.

He seems like the kind of player that you could easily build a team around. But then I don't think Sevilla would let him come to us.

I agree. Poulsen looks like he's the type of player we don't have and one we need, whereas I don't think we need another right back or any more strikers.

Flatters, Jebus Christ boy! How can you not see how utterly shite Chimbonda has been for us? What exactly does he add?

Needless to say, I think other than CM, RB is the next area that needs addressing.

But do you not agree that Keita looks to be the better player, even if only based on the few games he's played for Seville so far? Our aim has to be a top 4 finish next season couple and therefore wouldn't you say, given the strength of the top 4 in England, we'd need better than Poulson? Keita was regularly on Euro goals last season, so I'd seen a lot of highlights of him, but it is only since he's been at Seville that I've seen him play a whole 90 mins and he's looked top class and a fair bit better than Poulson. We need leadership in the middle and Keita was the captain at Lens and a great goal scorer from midfield, but so far at Seville he seems to have been playing a less attacking role and doing it really well. I'd say he has all the qualities we need. He's aggressive, a good passer, can set the tempo, can get forward, is strong, athletic and has leadership qualities.

Keita is a different type of player from Paulsen. I don't think they should be compared. Paulsen is a holding midfielder ala Makele, Hargreaves or Mascherano, but with better distribution. Keita is more of a box to box type of player.
Paulsen is there to protect the back four and to link the defense with the attacking players. He has great positional sense and would certainly contribute to the defense perfoming better.

I think we would be fiscally stupid to chase any Sevilla players. They will try to rake us over the coals. I would imagine that he will have some players he's faced off against that he might want to bring in though.

What do you think of Sebatian Kehl and Alex Meier (I was a member of the same tennis club as him when he was at Pauli.)

Do remember this is from Archibald, whose most spot-on post of the summer was, 'I don't know what's happening.'

I don't know how Keita usually plays for Seville as he's only been on Sky twice, but both times he has tended to play much deeper than when at Lens and wasn't really getting box to box. In fact it was Poulson who seemed to be getting into the opposition box more. They seemed to play in a similar way to, Carrick and Scholes play for Utd. They both played sitting slightly deep and moving the ball quiclky through midfield and using the wide players. Again this seemed very similar to how Utd play.

Basically the Seville midfield seemd to set up more like this:

Adrainno------------------Navas
----------Keita---Poulson

Similar to

Giggs--------------------Ronaldo
----------Carrick--Scholes

As oppossed to

Solari-------Zidane-------Figo

------------Makelele

Though I have just realised that of course Ramos wasn't actually the coach for Sundays gaem, so they may well have been playing slightly differently.

On a side note Hargreaves isn't a holding midfielder, despite commonly being descrdibed as one. He's nothing like Makelele. Makelele is a typical holding player, whilst Hargreaves is much more of a midfield destroyer like Gattusso. For some reason people always call Hargreaves a holding player and think he played there for Bayern, but he didn't. Frings was the holding player and then they sold him and played Demechelis in the holding role. Hargreaves was used as a midfield ball winner and often played on the right.
