He's a really exciting player. Not just potential like Lamela was when we signed him, but a proven top-flight player with genuine ability. I don't know enough about N'jie to be excited, but I can't wait to see this kid playing for us. He plays like he's having fun, which will be a much needed breath of fresh air for us.

Well done to everyone involved in making this transfer happen.

@Bus-Conductor - what's your thoughts on him? Apologies if I've missed previous posts by you on him. He's not a world class 'pulling up trees from day one' type, but I reckon he's got the sort of tenacity and guile that you'd really appreciate.
I haven't seen loads of Son, just the odd Leverkusen game and lots of Bundesliga highlights and the obligatory YT reels. I actually think, based ion the limited amount I've seen he'd be good fit for our system. He's got pace, he can take players on from wide areas and beat them, he scores at the same rate as Berahino (but that includes 4 penalties for Berahino), he creates more, sees more ball, can use both feet, strong, and he seems to work hard off the ball.

I wonder if this means Lamela is on his way

For info purposes:

From what I've seen he works much harder and smarter without the ball than Chadli, he creates more chances and scores at a similar rate. From what I've seen I think he'd be a really good fit and would give us the offensive output of Chadli but with the added increase in work rate.

What would you say his best position is ?

Yeah, from what I've seen he's very two footed.

I'd just like to add that for four years I went out with a girl who was half South Korean , and she was fully committed to acts of energetic 'enthusiasm' - so yeah. Winner.

I am hoping that he will be everything that Lamela was supposed to be. He certainly has more pace and guile for starters. Be very interesting to see the shape of the team now he has arrived. We should really be going 4-3-3 now that Son has arrived IMO.

I think Son is a more established player than Lamela was when we signed him. Son has done the business in Germany for the last three seasons so he's not only got proven ability (which Lamela had) but also proven consistency.

Even if Son doesn't score a lot for us I reckon he'll provide plenty of assists.

from what I have seen (which admittedly hasn't been a great deal) and heard I think this could be a very good signing. Has been a success at a top German club over a number of seasons and therefore deserves a chance ... Hope it works out but as always it will all be about what he does on the pitch.

Never seen him play, or N'jie for that matter.

Are either of them actually strikers?

from what I know neither are down the middle types although Son I think can probably on occasion do a job there but not considered the CF we are supposedly looking for.

Berahino and wanyama and we can compete. Our lack of a cfwd and defensive midfielder means we are still very very short. I hope this guy does the business however.

Not necessarily, over the last three season he's got a combined 13 assists (all comps). Chance creation isn't really his forte but maybe that will change under our system

Stats on assists don't tell the whole story. Put Soldado at the end of the move and there'll be no assist recorded.

Well okay but he hasn't been playing with Soldado? Regardless, I'm not just saying that based on stats, but sometimes it holds more weight when you back up a point with figures rather than just saying 'nah he don't create much m8'

Edit: Here you go (pulled from Squawka):

Bundesliga 2014/15 Apps: 30 Chances created: 39

Bundesliga 2013/14 Apps: 31 Chances created: 34

Bundesliga 2012/13 Apps: 33 Chances created: 25

Not much more than 1 a game for the most recent season, although in fairness it is increasing year on year

It's more that I can see him working well with Kane and Eriksen. Maybe not direct assists, but I can certainly see him being heavily involved in goals.

Haven't been this excited about a signing for ages :)

Hopefully we finally have a quality attacking wide player! :D

Ha thanks for the 'creative' rating @StartingPrice

You do realise some of us have had real life relationships with actual females don't you? I don't need to exaggerate about my ex, and I'm sure I've talked about her on here before.

Crazy lady. Couldn't handle her drink.

Touchy...much :)

Jaysus, we're used to them whinging about negs, but now they are even complaining about positives

Maybe I awarded you a creative for comparing Son's footballing abilities to your/your eponymous ex's personal and private shenanigans.

Or maybe it was for the language chosen to describe those personal and private shenanigans - acts of energetic 'enthusiasm' indeed!

The decision to connect it to an accusation of implied lack of substance to the claim that you had an ex half-Korean girlfriend was entirely your own (and not, so far as I was aware, even apparent to any sane mind in the original award).

The gentleman doth protesteth...methinks

p.s. Though I am sure that your regaling of SC with your bedroom exploits have kept SC die-hards endlessly entertained, I can assure you I have not been keeping a diary of them - indeed, I have never knowingly come across them before this day!

In short: chillax...or folk will suss how to get your goat (n.b. not an accusation of animal related shenanigans) (y)
