Pardon me for being a killjoy, but are all these dog-eating jokes really fair game? If Wanyama complains about the food in London are you all going to be pointing out places he can get fried chicken and watermelon, or will you be going straight for the jugular with the cannibalism gags?

The dog-meat issue is not about the facts of whether Koreans do or do not eat dog meat. It's about using the so-called "joke" as a way to outrage British people about Asians, specifically Koreans.

As far as I'm concerned, getting all huffy about people who eat dog or horse meat (while chowing down on a burger) is nothing but hypocrisy and sentimentality. If you decide to eat meat, it doesn't really matter which animal you eat.

But that isn't the point. Because that isn't the motivation for people who make dog-eating "jokes". The motivation is nastier than that. Anyone who doesn't see the merit in shutting the fuck up with the dog meat jokes on a thread about a Korean person's culinary choices needs to go and have a good long think.

There's no doubt there's things we eat here that he doesn't agree with if he's complaining about the food here.
I'm not upset if someone is offended or repulsed by what we eat.

Having lived in Korea a long time, I can tell you that "authentic" Korean restaurants are often either not as authentic as they should be, or lack the unique ingredients that make Korean food really taste authentic. Also, though London has amazing food, Korean males are much more likely than females to want authentic Korean food almost exclusively. It's not surprising that Son doesn't like the food in London.

Nice Korean place near me in Golders Green called Sarang, ate there the other day with my wife.

Son already knows though. There was a picture on the wall of the owner and him from a previous visit.

Are we seriously analysing a joke about eating dogs?

It was a joke. I personally thought it was quite funny, if you didn't then just ignore it.

Honestly, I swear that people are actively looking to be offended by things these days.

I don't expect there are too many options near the training ground, which is where he is spending a lot of his time.

There are some pretty fine Korean restaurants in the West End, though, if you want to pay the price.

Come on, I spent loads of my childhood summers in the beer garden at the King and Tinker.... he should stop complaining....

I don't think racism is an unreasonable thing to be offended by.

Lilbaz...a UKIP supporter who thinks Trump is the best thing since Thatcher. That should give you some idea ;). We are a bowl of many different M&Ms in this Community .

Ah, my mistake for trying to reason with him. Presumably he hates the brown M&Ms.

Chill the fuck out, it's only a bit of fun. Who really gives a fuck what he eats.

Oh lighten up for fuck sake, if you call that racism then don't watch the news, you'll be crying yourself to sleep for the rest of your life.

No, I call it inappropriate. You'd have to ask a South Korean if they found it funny or not. I'm sure they have heard a lot of dog meat jokes, so most probably couldn't give two hoots.

But what goes around, comes around, which is why I have baited Lilbaz, as I'd rather throw it straight back that get sanctimonious about it. I'm sure he has realised that, as he has a few brain cells.

However, it makes for uncomfortable reading as it gives the impression Spurs supporters are a bunch of xenophobic pricks. So it is right to comment when we don't all share the humor. So I don't blame anyone for pointing that out.

It's a free country and no real harm was done, so please go ahead. Just don't expect us all to laugh with you and expect a few return jokes or comments from those of us who don't share that humor.

Your argument is the equivalent of grabbing a random girl's tits on the train and then, when she complains, rolling your eyes and saying "Jesus, it's not like I raped you". Just because it's not as racist as beating the shit out of some poor Polish bloke because UKIP have told you that's allowed now, doesn't mean it's not still racist.

As Dave-F says - it's a free country, you can say what you want. But equally, I'm entitled to point out that this kind of casual racism makes you look like a dimwit.

Or more likely the sole motivation is that its funny, maybe ignorant that some could be offended but humor is the sole reason.
