I may have missed this but is there any link or reason
why he went so far away and to such a seemingly strange choice for a loan move?

Only reason put forward at the tiime is that although he is originally from Ivory Coast he was playing for Sienna in iItaly so speaks the language etc.

Edit - should have read the later post first , before adding mine !

Coulibaly gets his first start against Ascoli (away) subbed after 54 minutes.

Fans assessment :

COULIBALY 6: His first conclusion on target calling Maurantonio intervention.
.
Lively in the opening fight for every ball showing enthusiasm, beyond the sins of youth. At times, in fact, is still immature.

nb. Worst rating 4, MOTM 6.5 so Coulibaly rated quite well on his 6th appearance

Another sub appearance on Saturday.

So far 1 start (subbed oiff on 54 mins) and 8 appearances off the bench, total of 237 minutes played (ie about 2.5 matches).

All good experience for an 18 year old, but would be nice if he got a few more starts !

(46 ° COULIBALY 7): he wants to show off and it shows.
Si rende pericoloso fin da subito, ma viene tradito dall'eccessiva frenesia.
It is dangerous from the start, but let down by the excessive frenzy.
Abile a mettere in rete nel finale, primo gol con la maglia biancorossa per lui con tanto di capriola acrobatica per festeggiare.
Skilled at networking in the final, the first goal with the red and white shirt for him with lots of acrobatic somersault to celebrate.
Regala una piccola gioia ai pochi tifosi presenti allo Zecchini.
Give a little joy to the few fans in attendance at the Zecchini.

90th minute goal after coming on at half time. Also seems to have picked up the highest scoring on this fansite - MOTM too !

Match commentary :
67 ° Coulibaly close to scoring with a diagonal dirt right.
90° + 3 GOL!
90 ° + 3 GOAL! Coulibaly struck home after a free kick from the right side beaten by Brugman from the frontline on the last action of the game

I know his is not tall, but he certainly looks strong. If he has some pace about him, then he looks like he could be a tevez type and not a defoe type.

Goal at 3:25. Looks a little dubious to be fair.

Not dubious that the ball went in the net, but certainly a scrappy goal scored with head/chest, not one to remain in the memory other than its his first. He's had better looking efforts hit the woodwork or saved by the goalkeeper - but a scrappy goal still counts !

Offside though.

Scored his second goal for Grossetto today, a header from a corner, on 49 minutes after coming on as a HT substitute, they were 3-1 down at the time, just after just missed with a fine volley, and also got an assist for the 4th goal, so sound like a good performance - think its their last gane of the season and they won 4-3 but remain bottom of the table and relegated.

Interesting that despite being quite short, Coulibally seems to have a pretty good leap and effective at heading

Illustrating how short Coulibaly is by comparison with many players (think he's about 5' 7''), but must have decent upper body strength
