Berbatov article

Berbatov himself will make a decision on Sunday ahead of the full meeting but until this discussion, Dantchev is refusing to give any clues as to the player's wishes.
"in five days the situation will be more clear but until then it is not my job to say whether Dimi is happy or not," said Dantchev.

Now this sounds distinctly to me like they are angling for a get out in January. Would this be a serious loss to the club? His form and attitude has been woeful of late and while he can be sublime it is also worth noting that erratic would be a compliment.

Bad news I think. If he wanted to stay, there would be no reason not to say so. This is basically saying that he wants to leave, but wants to tell the club hierarchy before the press.

I'd love him to stay, and want to stay, and muck in, but if it's not going to happen, lets get as much for him as we can, and invest in defense and midfield.

A shame but I don't want passengers in our team. At the moment, that's what Berbs is.

Maybe we'll see the best of Bent in 2008

Probably more media bullshit, unless rumours of him saying to Martin "If you go then I go too" are true.

Ah the magical agent-speak. And it's in the Daily Mail.

Fantastic.

Did he ever sign a contract extension? Or did he just take the extra dosh?

The article has quotes (it's now on tribalfootball as well) but no clue as to when they're from. Which is his official site? It's not .net or .com

At times like this you need your players to dig deep and show commitment and togetherness, unfortunately the Berba looks like he’s already had enough…

yeah not the most conclusive thing i've ever read but IF berba is the kind of player that wants it easy and doesn't want to muck in when times are hard then he's at the wrong club.

I wonder what bullshit comolli told him about the club to get him here :-|

I seem to remember the same tripe being peddled in the summer.

Isn't this just a re-hash?

I wouldn't mind if we sold him tbh, he doesn't seem to have desire anymore. I'd be happy with us to get cash for him as long as Ramos is able to spend that on players he wants.

I think Berbatov will be excited by the prospect of playing under Ramos, i'm sure Ramos has told him he's important to his plans. If not though, if he wants out, he can go. Not because he's been off form like most of you numpties are saying, but because we need players who want to win for the club. Saying he's been rubbish this season, let's sell him is stupid, Man Utd weren't willing to pay upwards of £30mil last season for nothing.

he stated he wants to remain a month ago, thanked jol, reiterated he loves the crowd etc. let's hope he doesn't change his mind too quikcly, if he does then 25 mils on top of what the board has already promised ramos is ok with me.

he'll be with us until the summer at the very least, he's a top bloke and will take some responsibility for the recent decline and will want to help us return to the upper reaches of the league. don't fall for the media bullsiht

To be honest I don't know one way or the other but Berbatov is a quiet man not a rentaquote so his silence is always used by the press to make up stories however, even if he wants to go in January we won't let him go.

One thing that does occur to me on this subject is that when a manager leaves or is sacked, particularly one as popular as Martin Jol apparently was, there is usually a queue of players making comments about following him, it usually causes unrest but as yet I've heard only positive things from our players.
With our press if any player is talking along those lines it would be in the papers, and you can bet your life they've been sniffing around, so things can't be at all bad in my opinion.
Maybe that's why they've fallen back onto the old Berba story.

I think he's just keeping his options open. No point saying he wants to say and then asking for a huge pay rise... it's all part of the negotiations and it's the agents job to make it appear he's unsettled when he's not.

I think it's delusional for anyone to even think Sir Alex Ferguson would even contemplate on bidding Dimitar Berbatov.
