I really don't see why people think his body language is poor this season, it was poor last season. it is poor when he scores 3 goals. he was so poor last season, especially away from home that jol dropped him for the Fulham away game in the cup. He then came on and scored a couple of goals but it was mido and keano who really won us that game. mido got injured and berbo then played in the midweek game at everton and scored, had mido been fit he would have played.

berbo is a great player but like most players he is a confidence player and he has no confidence at the moment. It is also the case that he has had terrible service and little support from midfield.

My point is that he is no different to last season, he just isn't playing as well, but then neither are any of the players except keano (who has only just started playing well) and Bale(who was not here last season). should we sell them all?

Berbati - None of us really know for sure what is and what is not written into the various clauses in his contract. It has been written in "The Times" on a few occasions that they believe he has a £28m buyout clause in his contract. I'm not saying he does, and I'm not saying he doesn't. But they probably have better sources than I do so I throw it into the debate with a suitable caveat so as to not make myself look like a cock.

I will almost guarantee that Levy will play hardball, and it will take a lorra lorra money to get Berbs in January - summer may be a be different - depending on contract situ.

Don't fool yourself that because he is not in any kind of form, no big clubs will want to sign him. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

They know what he is capable on, and as someone mentionged above - it's also a matter of confidence.

So, if he wants out, Levy better let him because he will still lack confidence and his form won't improve and he will be useless. I think 25 million is not out of question - Ramos will be able to sign 2 or 3 good players for this money.

Well, I know it :) I have already explained it in the summer. To put it briefly, it's a principle of his manager that the first contracts do not contain a buy-out clause and the next contain such a clause acceptable for the player. 28m are too much money and Berbatov would not sign such a contract. Ibrachimovic who is (by far) more famous than Berbatov was signed from Inter for 17 m, why should any club in the world give 28m for Berbatov? I'm not saying he is not that good. But no club will give 28m for him. If there is any deal with an English club, it will be for 22m. If he leaves for Spain or Italy, the deal will not exceed 18m. Mark my words mates.

You are right mate. In his last 3 seasons in the Bundesliga Berbatov scored 57 goals in the Bundesliga (only 4 from penalties) and 69 goals in all tournaments. Add the 23 goals he scored for Spurs - that makes 23 goals per season in the last 4 years. Add to tat nearly 20-25 goals for Bulgaria. Given the amount of assists he makes and that he has possibly the best ratio goals/games at international level in Europe, it's clear that he's a top quality center forward, arguably in top 10 in the world. If Spurs announce he's available for say 15m at least 4-5 from the top 10 clubs in Europe would show interest in signing him.

You are perfectly right. Many fans read too much in his body language. They feel as if he doesn't give a shit for them which is complete bollocks. He was the same last spring. He is like that. Period.

So true, Berba needs to find his form back otherwise he's just a 2nd class Anelka.

He (Jol) said: "Berba came to me after the first two defeats and said 'Boss, I want to achieve something. I'm not worse than Eto'o or Rooney or Tevez,'— and he's right. But I told him he had to make the difference and win us prizes, that he needed to be more consistent."

That's the reason the "pathetic Bulgarian TW@T" (what a nice expression!) doesn't feel particularly happy and has lost motivation. There is nothing misterious.

The problem so far this year IS his consistency. he has been consistently jizz.

Berbati, drop the act, mate. It's a bit boring.

You've got about as much inside info on Berbs as you can glean from a few press cuttings.

We're in a win win with him any way. If he stays then great, we've got a good striker. If he leaves, then it's no biggie because we will be rewarded financially. I'm not overly concerned. Striking options are the least of our worries.

Good point. We were better before he joined anyway.

Fuck Berbatov and his stinking attitude. I loved the guy last season, but his attitude and form are concerning.

the only problemo being that we are total cr@p at the moment and actually whatever happens with berbatov we are in a lose lose situation globally because you saw what 16 million can buy you on the market these days in the summer. and the king and him being the only ones truly world class players who can lead the club out of the mess.

As if we needed telling:

Dimitar Berbatov free to leave Spurs if they miss out on top four

Dimitar Berbatov has sought assurance that he will be able to leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season. Emil Dantchev, his representative, met Damien Comolli, the Tottenham sporting director, yesterday to discuss the Bulgaria forward’s future.

Berbatov has been unsettled by Tottenham’s refusal to allow him to move to Manchester United in the summer as well as his club’s poor start to the season.

United first made an approach for the forward towards the end of the last campaign, in which he scored 23 goals in his first season after his move from Bayer Leverkusen. Tottenham were unwilling to sell him, not least because supporters would have questioned their ambition after the departure of Michael Carrick, the England midfield player, to United a year before.

But the club are believed to have come to a gentlemen’s agreement that he can leave for a large fee if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

The Times.

Bit of a pointless agreement to have imo - why not just say "you can go in the summer"?

at least it should be if we fail to finish in the top 5. CL is absolutly impossible now. We are already about 5 wins away from man city who are pushing for that spot
