Disagree - Koeman has come in and will have best part of £50/60 million to spend on building a new team.
It does seem that they will become another of those teams that develops talent and then sells it on for profit, but if they can stay in the PL while doing that then I don't see a problem.
To an extent the players who have left have done so because they saw their one good PL season as a stepping stone to bigger things.
It's not like Portsmouth where the chairman spent beyond the club's means and they had to recoup money.

It was always going to happen. They produce great talent and have been attractive to watch in the last year. I don't feel too sorry for them, they're making unbelievable money from these players, money the likes of Stoke, Palace, Swansea and other clubs at their level cannot make. They should be able to spend half of the proceeds and still remain competitive.

It is a shame that they didn't have the fortitude or ambition to get one more season out of this team. That team's cycle has been demolished now and we'll never know where it could have taken them.

It's not all doom and gloom - you'd have to say that signing Koeman was something of a coup and if he gets to re-invest and their production line remains strong things could quickly get back to the level of 2013/14 or better. But i think it's a shame that they've been picked off, even if it's by the likes of us.

With Koeman and 50 M they'll be more than fine. If he can succeed at Southampton as he did at Feyenoord with the youth Southampton will become the youth shop window of the Prem. He took a team of 18-22 year olds and let them to a 57+ win pct going 65-22-27 over three seasons. That's quite impressive. Would have loved to get him at Spurs myself...

I'm a great admirer of the Eredivisie and their youth setup. Feyenoord's has been especially impressive as of late and their first team squad is fantastic considering how young almost the entire squad is.

Southampton are going to be great to watch this season. If they reinvest that 50 M wisely they could do even better than last season...

This has always been the way for Southampton though. I think their fans are more than used to it.

Soothampton are running away with the balance sheet league

Expect little Danny to react soon

Sell Lloris Vertonghen & Lamela for 60m

Buy Ameobi Distin & Richard Wright for 1m

That will show them who's boss

I think they have done the right thing to be fair.

They knew they were going to lose certain players but they set out their expectations to the buying clubs and sold early so as not to affect their pre season and enable them time to strengthen their squad.

Now they have resleased a statement shutting up shop (see what happens I guess).

Considering it was going to happen anyway they have done things right so far IMO.

They will be fine and Shaw said there is another LB coming through that is better than him.

Wish we had anything like Southampton's youth set up.

They have the pick of the entire south coast though so its understanable that they would have a decent set up.

Will probably be us next summer, lloris and verts will have been here 3years by then and will want cl football, I don't know what their contract situations but if they won't sign new ones levy will have to cash them in. If eriksen carries his end of season form plenty of cl clubs will be interested in him too

lol have you stopped crying yet over the possible signing of Davies?
I never cried. In fact i dont have a problem with it if its meant to promot competition and push Rose. Just think that 10mill is an absolutely awful price

We have no chance of finishing in the top 4 next season, but then I said that about Liverpool last season

I think we have a very good side on paper. We really dont need to make huge signings. We have good quality. Its just that the players need to play to the best of their abilities. As long as we make the necessary improvements to the left side of the field, sign a center half, and sign a striker like bony, lukaku or negredo, I am optimistic about our chances to compete for top 3 or 4 and trophies. A big signing like James, Di Maria or Sanchez might even catapult us into contention for higher like 2nd or dare i say it, title but I think we'd have to get Levy drunk to fork over the money for one of them.

Yeah, more on his belt than Poch. Ironic isn't it. Just imagine if Poch flops and Koeman does better. We'll be the laughing stock of the Premier League, the likes of which has never been seen.
