I truly believe Poch has had his worst season yet.

He persists with the bullshit diamond in midfield with Kane up front when it hasn’t worked for five games in a row. We only started playing well against Dortmund last week when he dropped Son back in to midfield and then he goes and sets us up with the diamond again yesterday in the second half.

He obviously is unable to motivate the players at the moment too and I think he needs to take a long hard look at himself and his decisions.

His stubbornness with mid game changes is crippling us, whenever a team makes a tactical change we’re either unable to adjust or too arrogant to think we need to.

A strange game. We actually played really well in the first half, should have been a couple ahead at half time.

Even for the first 20 mins of the second half when Southampton were pushing we looked quite comfortable as they were generally shit going forward. We just had a day when all our back four had poor games....

Jan was giving the ball away frequently and nowhere near his recent form.
Sanchez was a mistake after mistake. He is young so we need to forgive him for now.
Rose is turning into Neymar with his diving and holding his face after a challenge. Also kept making the wrong decisions in possesion.
Walker-Peters, who I feel so sorry for, had a shocker defensively. Gave away the ball so often and also gave away a few unnecessary free kicks. It must be hard coming in for the odd game here or there but he has done nothing this year in games to oust Trippier or Aurier in my view.

Poch's comments weree were interesting re our arrogance. I think this is right. People think we bottle it when we don't win. It is the opposite in my view. We get too confident and think we can win easy. That is when we struggle. Now we are in a real fight for top four I expect us to up our game. This team has shown over the past few years we are resilient and hopefully now we will prove that.

The other thing I noticed again is the diamond is not our best shape. We started off with what seemed a 4-2-3-1 and this worked a treat. When Son came on we moved to a 4-1-2-1-2 I think, with him and Kane up front. We then lost complete control of the midfield. First half Dier was excellent, dropping in between the centre backs and linking with the midfield with Sissoko. Dele and Eriksen were getting so much space it was great. Second half after the switch we had no control and no time on the ball. Poch seems to like the diamond but maybe because Dele has been out. Now he is back hopefully we can go to a 3 behind Kane.

It will be a long 3 weeks now until the Liverpool game. I still think we will get top 4. It will need 2 of the chasing pack to overtake us and they will be under as much pressure as us and probably are not as good.

I still say a top four finish this year along with semi final of league cup and quarters (or better hopefully) of champions league represents an excellent season.

And we are going home soon. Lets not lose faith or respect for this team so quickly. They don't deserve that. COYS

That diamond formation is the devil. Worst thing Poch has ever come up with for us and it’s absolutely crippling us.

If he doesn’t wise up then we’re in big trouble.

The whole club is in a big rut, especially the manager.

Not sure you can lay all this on Poch, he's trying to do the best with what he has & try to find formations that get the best out of them taking into account the injuries & the need to rest some players. Mind you one or two players simple aren't performing on the pitch, namely Eriksen or Lucas.

Most of the blame must lay with Levy & Co who have failed to backhim in the last 2 TW's & I don't mean bring in any old player. Poch told him what he thought he need before the TW last summer, 2 or 3 quality players, & what did he get zilch.

Poch is starting to sound frustrated, so don't be surprised if he decides he's off in the summer if RM are interested.

The blame lays with both.

Tired of it always being one persons fault, same with all the player threads, it's always one person.

Bollocks to that.

It's a collective, from management down to those on the pitch.

The shower of shit we've seen in the last month and a half is to do with all of them.

Didn't see the game, just watched MOTD. So a stinker for Harry, a stupid mistake by Rose and a worldy free kick that was taken a good 10 -15 yards further forward than where the foul was made. I can't be arsed to trawl through the thread, but did anyone notice that yesterday?

I am still feeling numb, dejected and and thoroughly miserable. I wish I could console myself by saying we were robbed by bad ref decisions or abysmal luck. Sadly, the truth is sinking in - this squad has too many players that flatter to deceive. We perhaps have up to half a dozen players that may grab the attention of the truly top clubs as potential targets. The rest are only average EPL standard - good, but wil never be up to being good enough to propel us to genuine top European status.

The last 4 seasons have been great and thoroughly enjoyable and instilled a firm belief in me we were on the cusp of returning to the Glory, Glory days. The last 4 EPL games have been a reality check exposing the frailties of this squad, the mental strength of the players, the stubbornness of a manager sticking to tactics that too often aren't paying off, and the policy of not strengthening the squad, not once but in 2 consecutive windows was the height of folly.

Now we are flying on the wing and a prayer. There are some 8 games left with 2 being against City and Liverpool. It should not be beyond us getting a top 4 finish, but with Utd, Chelsea and even the Arse putting in decent performances, the likelihood of a top 4 finish now is nervously difficult. The possible tragedy is that finishing 5th or even 6th could totally destroy 4 splendid years of progress that brought us to the cusp of greatness. The possibility of losing top players and not attracting in top talent could happen.

Hurling abuse and castigating Enic, Levy, Pochettino and the players is futile. What has happened has happened. The time now is for Poch and the players to work out what has gone wrong and to put it right. This squad is streets ahead of Burnley and Southampton and should have beaten them - end of story. A top 4 place is still in our hands so I am clinging on to that hope. However, I can't shift the butterflies from my stomach and I cannot drag myself out of this doom and gloom depression for the moment. My expectations for this season were so high, it is hit me so much harder than in those seasons I was not expecting much.

At least I have this forum to share my grief and no know I am not alone.

And another thing I’m tired of, is seeing posts/ msgs by the players saying that they are going to win this cup or that comp blah, blah , blah.

They are going to win zilch if they keep on playing like they did in the second half.

If they really want to win cups/titles / matches, then just do it with their football on the pitch and stop all the bragging.

We've been here so many times before: one or two key players short in order to really compete. If anyone thinks this isn't down to investment they're deluding themselves. One good centre mid player would have made a real difference this year. Whether it's Levy's fault or Poch's fault, it was a really bad decision not to spend the money. Pathetic. Really.

We played brilliantly in the first half, and should have gone in 2 or 3 up. We all knew Southampton would come out fighting, but for some reason our players seemed shocked, and Pochettino was very slow to react.

I think a lot of our players have fragile egos. When we were in the title fight they had the mental strength to dig deep and grind out wins, but as soon as we slipped up we’ve looked largely indifferent. It’s as if ‘only’ finishing 3rd or 4th is beneath them.

Credit to Southampton too.

Our form since the start of the year is average at best.

Played 10
Won 4
Drew 1
Lost 5
Points per game 1.6

Not good enough is it and at the moment it’s a wonder where the next win is going to come from.

Yes but we will be having this conversation next year and the year after.
