The Spanish FA have probably taken legal advice on the situation, in preparedness for seeking damages in the future

Their lawyers may have instructed to 'get rid' straight away to make it clear to all that they have a serious grievance with the manager, so much so that the working relationship has become untenable

And in the main, it's Real Madrid's fault

If they kept the manager on for the World Cup, it's difficult to argue that the working relationship has been effected in any serious manner. In this situation, damages awarded would be lower

PS I'm not a lawyer; just my opinions. If there are any lawyers on here who'd like to school me on this please go ahead (although I'm not paying for the privilege; I know what you lot are like!!)

It wouldn't surprise me if Del Bosque was appointed manager for this tournament.

Hierro has been given the job. Apparently he was Sporting Director before. I thought assistant but looks like he was higher up than that.

Someone on the BBC comments had an interesting idea - get on the phone to Pep, offer him a wedge to spend the summer winning the word cup on a one tournament contract.

If you waited till after the world cup you look like you just bent over for madrid. Mess of a situation.

This is completely bonkers! Like I've mentioned earlier, it's idiotic of the manager to sign for a team just days before he's ready to lead the Spanish side in the WC. What were he and his agent thinking...

and just a few weeks after signing a 4 year extension with Spain, he's an idiot

Good news for the rest of us. But what a hateful club RM is. They must be even hated by their own fans after this move

from listening to reports on radio the Spanish press ( Madrid bias obvously ) all saying Madrid acting with the highest integrity

I can understand why they have done this. If he and Real have treated them with contempt and negotiated all this on the quiet, I'm not surprised they have taken away the honour of leading his country into the World Cup.

Tbh Spain's way of playing football is so ingrained, the core of the squad know it inside out, it probably doesn't need much of a hand on the tiller. If this was going to happen to any team, theirs is probably one of the best placed to absorb it.

true and if this happened to Deschamps or Martinez it would greatly increase the chances of those countries , IMHO

Pretty sure City would refuse that

I wouldn't discount anything when it comes to Citeh anymore. The temptation of a suitable compensation and to be able to book themselves next season as the premier league champions, lead by the reigning world cup winning manager, would be one that I think would at least be interesting to consider.
