I knew it was too good to be true when I pulled Spain out of the hat in the sweepstake last week.

Great decision!! :ROFLMAO: This could have a huge impact on them now, you're effectively throwing out all of your preparations. They'll need someone who's just going to step in and change nothing.

Statement: "We have been forced to dispense with the national coach."

Statement continues from Spain FA chief Rubiales. Regarding news of Lopetegui's Real Madrid appointment. "The negotiation has occurred without any information to the [Spain FA until] just five minutes before the press release. There's a way to act that needs to be fulfilled."

Mental, might have to back them to go out at group stages now....the other 3 teams in the group must be enjoying this.

Allardyce was in the papers saying he feels it should be him managing England at the World Cup. Now's his chance. El Grande Samuél.

My lads been given WC homework and he picked Spain, one of the questions is who is the national manager.
If he doesn’t get 20/20 I’m holding the Spanish FA responsible and I’ll get him a ‘Justice for Jonathan’ tshirt printed! ;)

That is nuts. What I don't get is surely Real has to sound out the spanish FA for permission to talk to him??

I wonder what type of appointment they'll make. Will they let the assistant manager take over? Or will they appoint someone just for the world cup and seek to make a permanent appointment after that? I wonder if Pep would fill in for them.

Ludicrous decision. Van Gaal finished 3rd in 2014 with the United job lined up. Conte knocked Spain out of Euro 2016 before taking Germany to penalties.

No. The Spanish FA should bend over and spread both cheeks for Real just like the Spanish government does.

Unless they've sacked them as well, they should just appoint one of the assistant coaches - they will know all of their plans. Failing that they will need to appoint someone who is more of a man manager, to lift the spirits and not rip everything up.

Funny thing is they probably won't get a new coach in, sent to Russia and undertaking a training session all before they afce off with Portugal, who I assume are looking forward to this contest now!
