Sporting Lisbon Crisis

So with the current crisis at Sporting, wouldn’t people love to see us try to take advantage of this and tap up some of the incredible talent which will be released for free (barring some legal fees I imagine) Various outlets reporting Martins, Bruno and Carvalho are all terminating contracts due to the ultras attack. Feel like this is an amazing opportunity to bolster the squad for a relatively insignificant fee. One of many links below.

Nothing will be "free". There will be all sorts of agent fees, signing on fees, wages etc that will all detract money from our other targets. We are also at our limit for non-homegrown players.

Understand regarding fees and all that jazz. Was just curious as to whether this would be something we would take advantage off, but yeah regarding homegrown players we are pretty much stuck unless we ship out a fair few, such as Sissoko, Toby and Dembele whom you’d all expect to be leaving this summer. (Sissoko is probably more wishful thinking then any actual fact)

I know it's of their (especially the chairman) own making, but I'd feel kind of bad destroying a club in this way. Such is life I suppose.

Maybe their fans should have thought about that before attacking their own players. Idiots.

I know mate but if 50 of our fans took it upon themselves to do similar, causing all our best players to leave for nothing, and therefore ruining the club for the foreseeable future, if not permanently, i would feel somewhat aggrieved as one of the millions of fans who did nothing. I wouldn't blame the players, and can understand why they left, but for 50 fans and a crazy chairman to destroy our club would irk me. Hopefully the chairman leaves and the players stay.

don't see how they can just leave....

Unsafe work conditions and employer not providing adequate security etc... Easy to push through a tribunal is day after a highly public assault by masked men

If the club does get compensation it will probably be the buying club buying out their contracts which would still be a lot less than transfer fees these days. Going to be a while before it is settled methinks.

I'd take a shot at some of the players i.e. Carvarlho, Gelson and Bruno Fernandes.

BREAKING: Gelson Martins, Bruno Fernandes, and William Carvalho have ALL terminated their contracts with Sporting CP after recent events regarding the club and its fans. (@Record_Portugal) Wow. 3 high-profile players who are each worth in excess of £30 million, are free to walk!

I believe there was also an incident prior to this one where fans got into the training ground and confronted the players. Even though it wasn't a physical attack like this one, the players can use it to show this wasn't an isolated incident and demonstrate that the club knew there were issues with security but didn't take the necessary measures to solve them etc.

Which is why I believe the club has agreed to willingly terminate these contracts as they failed on their side to do their duty in protecting the players.

Podence is one we should be looking at. Similar to Hazard but way quicker.

Sometimes a supporters group gets what they deserve. This is one of those cases.
