it's obvious the main reason we are in for him is because we need to boost our homegrown quota and he's a decent prospect in a problem position for us. i personally think we need a way more athletic LB; a left sided walker.

LOL

Lennon raped him when we won 3-1 at Swansea, he was all over the place.
He's average at best, no better than Rose.
With our existing options on the wings, we need a left back who's quick, and will run up and down the flank all day. Most teams will have a field day with Davies.

lol
You sure picked a great example.
Lennon is easily one of the top 10 most speedy attackers in Europe. As little as a couple of years ago, he was considered one of the top 5 in terms of explosive pace, IIRC.

Granted, Davies took a little dip as far as stats are concerned last season, but so did the rest of Swansea (with the exception of perhaps Bony and 1 or 2 others).
Let's also keep in mind that this kid is still growing/developing (he just turned 21 two months ago).
He may not be the most glamorous acquisition, and my personal preferences would be someone like Sandro or even Dodo, but Davies is still an upgrade to our existing options at LB; and he will definitely improve under proper tutelage from Poch and Co, IMHO.

Main thing is we are identifying our weakness and look to be doing it early. Big rumours of Lovren aswell and if we can get both Davies and Lovren then that is a big improvement on our woeful defence. Davies I'm hearing defensively is very good and improving where as Danny Rose is useless.

I agree, but who and at what price could we get a more athletic left sided Walker, bearing in mind we don't have £28M to spend on a left back as ManU did?

Yeah definitely, it's like we have no choice but to buy Davies. There's really not a lot of young LB's that would be easily gettable and have enough quality to jump straight into the first team. The ones I think that would fit our requirements to a tee are alex sandro, Alberto Moreno and Ricardo rodriguez (although he's not as athletic as the other two) but all of their clubs would hold us to ransom.

The only dark horse who I rate as having a good future after an underwhelming first few years of his career is the LB who plays for Nice after moving from Lyon a couple of years ago, I won't even attempt to spell his name kolo-something... But there's no way we would gamble on him over Davies unfortunately.

Ben Davies isn't speedy quick is one concern but like most growing taller lads I reckon that could improve.

Bale when he first came was not as quick on the pitch as when he left... Bentaleb is another player I'm expecting to be more faster with strength and age.

More faster?

.. and a good manager takes average players and gets them to play better. Pochettino's record in this so far has been pretty good. He made Lallana, Shaw and Lambert look like internationals (until they pulled on an England shirt...)
I'm still worried we'll try and sign an English player this summer.

People on here seem to know more than our coach regarding this signing. I'm happy to trust his judgement.

That's because lennon is very bloody quick... And when Lennon is on a good day he's very good...it just so happened he was going through a good patch
The kid is 21
He has a lots of time to improve
Not with us he doesnt. If he makes lots of mistakes the fans will be on his back and he'll be out of team.

Fuck you....all I said was we have a new coach, who has a good reputation and I think he knows more about buying players than I do.
Also you implied that I don't think...which the second thing you know absolutely nothing about.

It's only banter.....

He's about on level with Danny Rose in ability, imo. A big bonus for him though is his lack of mistakes. According to EPLindex, Rose has 1 error per 559 minutes, whereas Davies has one per 2,121 minutes.

I still wish we would look for a better player for this spot, but he's a decent grab.
This and just squawka, though he makes less mistakes he doesnt make as many tackles, interceptions, blocks, win as many aerial duels, clearances and loses more one vs ones than rose.

Considering Rose has had a dog shit season I would expect better from Davies.

This is a tough call

The guy that is our new manager obviously rates him

But then again a bunch of people who play FM don't

I'm not sure who to trust.

Maybe it's some competition for Rose that might actually get him to concentrate?
