After reading the article i like what he says, time will tell if it is 'just words' as for some of our other players.

But what he said is the type of comment you'd expect a club captain to make. Maybe he has qualities we have not seen yet such as leadership ability.

Do we want to just play every game, or do we really want to finish third, second or first? Maybe you won’t be able to do it, but we have to believe..”
He definitely sees that some players are just going through the motions.

glad I bothered to read that, given his previous achievement it also carries an authority. Hope we see him to well tonight, then hold down a place.

He was Vice Captain at Montpellier so hopefully once he settles and feels a bit able to speak up we'll see some more of it.

I really liked this bit:
“The best quality we had was solidarity,” he added. “When we went on the pitch, we knew that at the end of the game we would have no strength left.

“You need talent in football but when you are a professional everyone has talent. The difference is the way you use it. We have to believe in ourselves.”

It clearly doesn't take much time for new signings to cotton on to some of our problems being purely psychological.

Huge difference in quality between us and the top four sides. Admire the youngsters enthusiasm but he's stretching reality to the limits on that one. I cannot remember the last time we beat any title chasing side.

Hope the malcontents are listening. Yea Ade that means you.

Yeah, solidarity brothers, although Ade wont actually be taking part in any action himself as he has a bad back which is nobodys fault. Not even the Romans.

As usual the headline is misleading as what he actually said was more balanced, is spot on and brave for a new player to come out and say that!

The lack of desire, work rate and bravery from a lot of our players is killing us and if we are not careful can be toxic in the long term for our younger players as a club is only as good as its senior pros. Putting aside the sitters he misses, I can't remember a match where I think Soldado has given a pair of centre halves a tough game, Ade and Paulinho part to avoid being struck by a free kick last season, Vertonghen's attitude stank a lot last year and he had the look of a player who couldn't give a monkeys, our players in front of the defence don't fill holes quickly enough off the ball which makes it easy to play through us - I could go on and on. A few positive results here and there make everyone feel a bit better but underneath all of it we have major issues at our football club. Having to appoint kaboul club captain and Ade as one of the vices says it all.

Glad to see we are backing Poch by bringing in the Mitchell. Happy to give most of these players the rest of this season to prove their worth but I suspect we will have to do a major rebuilding job on the squad as mentality is one of the hardest things to change in a player compared to technical and tactical attributes and the older they are the harder it is to turn around their mindset. We are a club with no discernible style of play, no character or personality except for conceding cheap goals and generally bring quite soft. I don't mind if we finish 17th in the league this year tbh but we must back this manager to the hilt to impose HIS style on the club and not force him to adjust based on the players he has for the sake of short term results. Let's just forget this obsession with a top four place for a bit and focus on bedding down the basics required for the club to be successful in the long term - good honest pros with a solid mentality will be a good starting point
