The holes in the Tottenham squad have been rudely exposed over the past week - surely they won't let their rivals into second?

True, at the moment i would take a draw with Necastle. If Arsenal finish above us its gonna hurt

Reminds me of a hurdles race where we have smacked the last hurdle really hard.

some of this is a bit over blown.
when we entered the WBA game we were flying (which for a young team in their first title run and with much of the country against them was remarkable). We played well to go 1-0 up and hit the woodwork three times plus had other really good chances and play before they came back into it. Did we tighten up in that game towards the end...yes but partly that was due to a feeling that it was turning into one of those nights. I felt it particularly well Lamela hit the post. Had one of those gone in we would have seen the game out and gone into the Chelsea game on a high. Would that have made a difference in holding them off? one will never know but possibly.
After the blow of the Chelsea game and losing Mousa and Alli it was going to be tough to pick ourselves up.
The Saints game was the first time I really felt like mental fatigue set in after they got back into it.

A lot to be proud of this season and the team will grow and improve.

I think Son will become a legit go to attacker off the bench and IF (and this is the big one) either Mason or Nabil can get some form and fitness back + if either Winks or Ball can show they can be a good back up for cup games and ultimately 30 mins of defensive midfield energy we will be in good shape.

Of course we do need a back up striker

Saints had 2 shots on Target and 30% of the possession. hardly a dominating win. yes we toiled. I expect the weather and the end of season blues to have played there part.

What will hurt the most is if we lose to a Townsend goal next week. THAT will hurt. a lot.

There's a lack of a plan B, we kept trying pass through Southampton even though they packed the midfield and centre of defence.

What surprised me was the lack of crosses into the box, granted that they had two tall defenders in the middle but a few crosses zipped into the box would have caused confusion.

We lack a Coutinho/Mahrez type player who can take on a few players and make defenders panic. Koeman knew we'd look for gaps for through balls and made his team sit tight in the middle, but we also lacked a bit of movement and a midfielder to run past Kane, like Alli normally does.

Disappointing end to a fabulous season.
3 points from the last 12 available is not too much to ask.
If we finish below Arsenal it will hurt
but third was at the top end of my expectations
at the start of the season.
We have beaten Newcastle away for the last two seasons
so hold the wrist slitting for another few days at least.
Then slit away if you must.

There's no been much better football played by any club this season than us away at Stoke and the first half against Chelsea.

The second halves against West Brom and Southampton were disappointing but we acquitted ourselves well enough in both games that they should have been over by Halftime.

Something to work on over summer but hardly the end of the world.

I was just listening to Monday Night Club and have to say that I was amazed at how articulate and generous Charlie Adam was, the latter with regard to us. He is a hate figure for us, but I for one have been pleasantly surprised. He will make a very good pundit.

Also been surprised at how generous the TalkSport pundits have been. Sure, they ask the questions have they bottled it etc but then they wade in with positive responses. Didn't expect that. Seems like the love in with LCFC is waning as well, sooner than expected.

The media have other stories to cover (probably badly) now.

The Saints game was probably the 1st game since the Newcastle game where I thought we should be ashamed of that performance. Apart from the 1st 30 minutes, players were nowhere near their best & it just looked like they had quit about 10 mins before the Saints winner came along.

Kane was snatching at everything; he was acting as if he needed to shoot as soon as he got the ball. I'm sure he would have tried to score from the goal-kick if Lloris had have let him take them. Alderweireld was as culpable as Lloris was for Davis' opener because he was never tight to him to cause him any doubts. He also almost gifted Long with a goal with his poor defensive clearance that luckily bounced off him only because he wasn't expect Toby to make such a hash of the clearance. Mason looked well short of any sort of sharpness & it was because he just wasn't alert enough to think & move the ball faster, which led to him being caught on the ball in the build up to Davis' second.

The collective just looked like they had given up & it very much feels like we are 'limping' toward the finish line. The Poch will not want to suffer any passengers or players without the stomach for a fight. Its all well & good proclaiming that 'we're united' and 'fighting for the cause' when things are going well, but as cliched as it sounds, its when things aren't going your way, when we're under the cosh where the real test of character lies; that's where you have to dig deep. This defeatist attitude was prominent in the lethargic manner in how we moved the ball; there were no short, sharp passages of play that reflected any intent on trying to win with a dynamic precision. The ball was being played at a very pedestrian pace that allowed Southampton to remain organised & compact.

I really hope we have enough about us to get a positive result from Newcastle, but I just feel like the players are content to quietly give up. This isn't a good enough attitude from the players & I am sure the Poch will wield the axe where it counts come the end of the season.

Amazingly, yes.
Something of an amateur.
Reminds me of Alexi Sayle line on attempted suicides call for help, I tried to slit my wrist with an over ripe tomato.
Not really material for comedy but made me laugh.
I've got a few ready for the weekend.

Ha!
The more painful, the more we need to laugh about it. If we don't make second, I will have to come to you for assistance. I will consider any method, but draw the line at stamp collecting.
