£27m for the two? I'd take that.
Suspect Sandro could be off, maybe Paulinho too.
Maybe Dawson & Ekotto offered to Saints to fill in for Lovren and Shaw?
Can't see it being anyone else. Holtby is a stayer in my opinion, good engine to work the high press, had the tenacity to play deeper but also has the skillset to play more advanced.
Schneiderlin to replace Sandro, Rodriguez for the LWF role, cutting edge, also able to share duties with Kane and fill in upfront if needed.

Get a LCB and were done in my opinion, maybe a RB too if Naughton goes.
This.

I worry about instability. We had too much change last year to mplayern effective campaign, along with rhe coaching issues. Not one of our midfielders are imho not of the required grade when fit.

Sandro - unplayable when fit and engaged.
Capoue - effective and skilled DM
Holtby - talented and youthful. not sure on his best position but he cam play deep playmaker role as well as Eriksen supporting role.
Eriksen - the best at embedding himself in last year . Excellent player.
Lamela - more of a forward than a midfielder I reckon.
Townsend - winger and we need his speed.
Lennon- ditto although he need to show he can still do it at the required level. Great servant for the club.
Chadli - potential.
Paulinho - brilliant when not jaded and in need of a rest.
Bentaleb, Falque, Ceballos, Mason.
All of these guys are ready for the first team. They need games. If we buy schneiderlin then we have to loan out some along with Pritchard et al.

However I can see the importance of having players with knowledge of Poch's system. Able to play immediately. I'm just glad that I don't have to be the one that has to choose who is going to have to make way.

Explain the word Sandro Unplayble when he is fit? Hes no Suarez. Sandro has been unplayable for a while alright, but in a different context. I have not seen ANYTHING to sugges Paulinho in brilliant when fit.

Agree 100% with the Moutinho comment. I think a lot of us could see the writing on the wall when we didn't get him as Modric's natural replacement.

As a side note, I have a horrible feeling the phaffing about with Griezmann will come back to haunt us BIG time. Just my opinion.
phaffing as in not paying 25 million pounds and a bigger club coming in to get him?

After a net spend of almost zilch last season, and with player sales already this season (plus more to go) i'd say this would be a cracking bit of business for us.

We do not have a player who is box to box, can pass and has the guile of Schneiderlin, and he would for sure be key to our midfield. My only concern with Rodriguez is how good he has recovered from his injury?

Getting both plus a center back would be another great transfer window!
Def need that center back. Someone top class if we can, not a young potential style signing

Quite a closing down sale at Soton: did someone on their staff tell the owner that her bum did look big?

I don't doubt what you are saying about the on field changes season, after season but guess that any new manager want's to a certain extent to bring in players to freshen up the squad as a whole.

In Poch's system though, Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele could (i mean could) not be what he wants to transfer his system that he had in place at Southampton. I think (and i could be wrong on this) that he moved out eight or eleven players after he assessed the Southampton squad. I am not saying that he will want a mass clear-out at Spurs but his system calls for pace, quick movement of the ball and constant closing down of the opposition when we don't have the ball.

It does not take a degree in rocket science to see who the likely candidates are that may be shown the door. One surprising fact in the first three friendlies is the ever present Capoue? Perhaps here lies the tale of the future of Sandro and or Paulinho. If we are to take the two Southampton players then Koemen may possibly want a couple or three in return.

We have a bulging squad and Levy will want somehow to reduce the cost, and size so i do see more changes and a little unrest but all for the good of the squad in my opinion.

I really like the Schneiderlin signing.

For tactical managers to have a fulcrum in the side that is used to his view of the way we should be playing is paramount. I would even pay more than he's inherently worth to have him 'running' the team this year - i believe it will vastly shorten the 'transition' time for Poch.

I said the same when AVB targeted Moutinho, I always felt that missed signing really cost him.

I agree with your first point in terms of ensuring a smooth transition, but I don't think he is an improvement in quality over Sandro or Capoue so with Poch being given the pre-season to install his theory and methods I feel we have more opportunity to get the best out of them both.

I disagree with your Moutinho statement. What really cost AVB was our appalling defending 18 months into his tenure, and his inability to bring out the best in either of our very expensive strikers.

If I remember rightly (James) Rodriguez left for Monaco at the same time as Moutinho... And we were also obsessed with Hulk from Porto at the same time. We didn't manage to sign either of our two main targets, yet the Rodriguez went unnoticed, but would have offered so much more. I don't for a moment think Moutinho isn't a good player, but he is very much in the same mould as Deco, and we know how that ended for Scolari...

The money for both Southampton players is ridiculous, and one is recovering from a serious knee injury, and the other has better players already in front of him at the club!

Paulinho was involved in the third and fourth place playoff at the World Cup... That is why he will not be back in action, he will be enjoying a break... He needs a break too! He needs to refresh, and he needs to think about how he is going to improve on a disappointing first season in the Premier League...

Bloody hell we never learn do we? We've been buying so many overpriced players over the years you'd have thought we'd have learnt by now. Bentley, Rebrov, Richards (rip), paulinho, lamela. And now we want to spend ridiculous money on 2 players who have hardly played for their national teams! And if they don't perform we then want to sell them at the price we bought. And if there are no takers we end up with expensive players on our payroll. Ridiculous business!
