What's new

Spurs don’t need a summer overhaul; they need patience.

Reasonable article.

No patience required with some of our squad, they need to be moved on.... Adebayor, Chriches, Capoue, Stambouli to name a few.

Patience will be required with the likes of Pritchard,Winks, Dele Alli,Yedlin?,Carroll etc being integrated into the first team squad, and getting real game time. Poch should be applauded giving Mason, Kane, Bentaleb a long run in the team at the expense of expensive signings last season. Let's hope he is brave enough to give a go to some of the youngsters in the League Cup and Europa League.
I'm looking forward to the new season already!

To be honest I wouldn't be dissappointed if our starting line up against against Man Utd is Lloris, Trippier, Rose, Dier, Vertonghen, Bentaleb, Alli, Lamela, Erikson, Pritchard and Kane.

We have a team with bags of potential and all it needs is time to grow. I know a lot of people will say this is the EPL and you don't get the time but it's not like our efforts of the last three seasons have worked.

Sometimes you have to take a step backwards before stepping forward in a blaze of glory.

Never thought we needed an over-haul, just a couple of tweaks.
Let the likes of Liverpool throw lots of money about, buying multiple players. They've done it before, never learn from it, and will be same next season.

The article is reasonable, the headline is stupid.

Headlines are usually written by different people to the articles. In this case by somebody who obviously didn't actually bother to read the article.

Unlike some titles it does relate to the article below just the article isn't solely based on the title.

If that makes sense.

Like it, but would be surprised if Alli and Pritch start.

I also think that if Alderweireld signs then he'll start with JV.

I think Chadli will get the nod over Pritch - who will be on the bench.

Lastly I think that our biggest signing this summer needs to be a quality CM to partner Nabil and he will start too. Whoever he is. Personally hope it's Rabiot.

I really hope Dele Alli gets a chance, just think he'll play beyond everyone expectations err except mine.

I really believe he'll be part of the 10 goal club for us and have a start similar to the one Bale had for us (hopefully without the results and the injuries)

I remember thinking that young Gareth took to it like a duck to water and I have the same feeling about young Dele.

Totally agree, been so impressed with what I've seen from him (which isn't a huge amount) and think that he has all the tools to be a superstar for us.

I would even go as far as to say that he could just be our Steven Gerrard/Frank Lampard in terms of impact to our team in years to come. No reason why not.

Have you watched a lot of MK Dons then?

Yeah I have always been impressed with what I saw. Ever since I signed on Soccer manager and read good reviews about him coming through.

They don't play to dissimilar to ourselves, keeping the ball on the floor with good movement in the attacking third and with better players around him I think he'll excel.

I am all for giving the kids a chance but a team full of kids unless they are incredibly special could destroy them We already have the youngest team in the league right now we need to add some experience and leadership to give those kids some help. There is more than enough games for everyone to have a chance. In my view Kane needs help up front, Bentaleb needs more quality beside him at center midfield and we need an organiser at center back as we are shocking at defending.

I've mentioned before we need solid, insightful research put into the positions we need to address. The problem has been that we have entrusted our entire recruitment to that useless Italian, Baldini. Various news organisations reported that he followed the the advice of so-called 'powerful agents', which ought to be a massive red-flag because they are just furthering their own agendas, which invariably means exacerbating their own bank-accounts.

Thankfully it is being addressed, but we definitely need to be shrewd in our dealings. I believe we need a CB, CM, WF/RW & FW; the signing of players in these positions would make us very competitive, but its just who we get to fill those roles which is the $1million-question.

I wish the club would get on with filling these roles quickly because we need those players bedded in quickly, so they can hit the ground running next season. This is so important because we've been in limbo for 2 seasons & a 3rd could mean our better players looking for pastures new.

Everyone keeps banging on about Ali but there are some kids in our accademy, Milo's under 19s European cup winner under 20s World Cup winner, Harry winks, and josh Onomah who I think could be better than Ali if given a chance. I do agree we need to give poch time build over a few seasons bringng though our young players CCV or Milo's should be given EL time rather than signing TA ( unless we sell fazio) 4 CB then Milo's, Ball, CCV is enough however I think TA would offer more than Fazio.

Nice sentiment but Gareth certainly didn't take to the EPL like a duck to water.

Its true. Maybe if we just sit tight. Great players will come to us and work for free.

Patience?! Oh yeah, we're so impatient us Spurs fans. We've never had it so good! lol

We DO need an overhaul, cause this team is fragmented and unbalanced in certain areas. Anyone with a brain knows that, that's why a journo has written this BS.

Patience should come after the overhaul dickwad.

We don't need a over haul we only need 3 key signing IMO but we need to lose 7/8 to make room for the talented youngsters we have

As I remember he was pretty pants at lb and went months without being in a winning team.
Some fans were wanting him gone and groans all round every time he came on the pitch.
Not sure how anyone can say he 'hit the ground running.'

This article is nothing more than a summary of what the Spurs squad is at present (as seen through rose-coloured glasses.)
Nothing at all about any possible shortcomings; for example it assumes that all of the incoming young loan returnees and academy kids will successfully fit into the first-team. Also, they feel that Harry Kane will be able to handle the scoring up front on his own.
As just about everyone on here knows, Spurs will need to get rid of those players who didn't cut it last season, (and to be fair they do seem to have started on this)...but it won't be enough, those positions - especially key ones - will need to be filled with a few quality players. A Toby Anderweireld alongside Jan would certainly solidify the back line and Harry needs to be rested now and then by having another top striker to fill in up front.
If Spurs fail to make these changes, their, and our, patience could run out.
