    RUMOURS

Spurs are the latest club to watch Preston North End striker David Nugent in action ahead of the January transfer window.

    Source: Eatsleepsport

Spurs have suffered a double striker blow with Robbie Keane suffering a knee injury and Mido struggling to overcome a groin problem.

Nugent is attracting plenty of interest with Preston apparently willing to let him leave Deepdale in the New Year but only if they get around £5 million for the player.

Preston boss Paul Simpson needs to fund team strengthening and they also have to pay a sell on clause to League Two club Bury.

Spurs are not alone in their interest in the player and there have been a host of clubs linked. Portsmouth have been leading the race to sign him since the summer but could lose out if Spurs pursue their interest.

  1. Captain Spur
He does look pretty good, but don't need him, got plenty of attackers and would like to see some of our younger players getting a crack at the big time, before they all decide they've had enough of waiting and sod off.

    five million....

I think this has been manufactured as they have put 2 and 2 together! Our loss of 2 strikers although Mido seems back now and the fact that he has been linked with everyone! I also read the other day that he said he was definately not leaving in January?! I'd rather see Peckhart step up!

we wont be gettin a striker in january as we have four, we may get some youngsters in and one maybe a striker but he wont be challenging the four straight away

the only way we will be gettin a quality striker is if we have a long-term injurie and then we would only loan someone

Our striker situation is fine. Pekhart continues to impress and I would much prefer to see him come up the ranks

My main concern is the lack of pace in central defence if Ledders gets an injury. Daws is awesome but his pace along with Davenport and Gardner is not great and in my opinion if we are going to splash the cash in Jan then lets get a pacy back up central defender (if dervitte is not ready yet).

Pekhart sounds very exciting, but he's a kid and he's been knocking them in against schoolboy defenders. He's mainly playing in the academy side, not in the reserves.

He's also very big for his age that gives an even greater advantage at academy level. So I would resist concluding from him prolific scoring so far that he's ready to do it at a high level..

Incidentally, Gardner is the fastest central defender we have at Tottenham. Faster than King. When he's fully fit, he's one of the quickest players at the club in terms of raw pace.

When he's fully fit being the operative phrase. Gardner's injury record is beginning to resemble Darren Anderton's...

 This story is absolute codshit. Anyway we'll probably sign 3 more central midfielders in January!

And whatta heck we do with quick CB if he can't play in good level every day?

And that Nugent story is utter bollocks, we aint going to use 5mil in attacking player who's experienced only in championship.

I agree that Micah Richards looks superb but I'm surprised that no one is mentioning his defensive team mate, Sylvian Distin as cover for Leds and Daws- he is hugely experienced in the premiership (still only 29), has leadership qualities and is refusing to sign a new deal at City.... perfect don't you think for a January signing?
  11. fvolsen
sounds like a good idea. he also got plenty of pace. scored a wonderful goal a couple of weeks ago, and he truly showed some pace!

    Ha ha.....five million....

preston will prob wait to see if they get promoted and only sell him if they dont next summer, when they do i imagine they will get about 4-5 million for him, sure everton had 4 mill turned down last window, doubt we would have any interest unless defoe or keane were leaving.
  14. spurslenny
i remember a similar reaction when we were linked to Ashton at around the same price, this guy could still prove to be a bargain, even at 5mil:wink:
  15. Boony
upson ? he is fast, also we need a play who is happy playing 3rd choice
  16. Kurtzen
Missed the boat last year...so, now it's sinking?
A knock down price for Ashdown on crutches?
    (As 'real' as this guff)
