So why aren't lots of other clubs chasing this guy ?
I thought it was just me.
First reaction to any signing is
'How come nobody else wants him'
Second reaction is
'Well we must have paid well over the odds'.
Third is
' Didn't we sign him last year
or was it the year before'

Can we sing that song the old boy did on TS when they were ringing in for songs for Pav?
That song on TS made me piss my pants.
I still sing it just to amuse myself.
Found it.

Me too...the way he sings it is well funny. Roman Pavlyuchenko, you kno-o-ow he's gonna score three in a row

This - supposed - deal is not reported in any other newspaper or football website, nor is anything on the Spurs official website......
Conclusion: it's bullshit.

Suarez, modric and Berba all took time to settle.
Not sure I agree with those examples but thats not what Im saying anyway.
I meant if you go giving players ready made excuses for not performing they will take them.
I'm not saying some players don't take longer to settle but to be honest there aren't many who join top teams for mega bucks and take over a season to perform.
Suarez modric and berbs still looked special in their first season imo. They just got better.
There aren't many who look like Paulinho or Capoue for a season and suddenly improve the following year.
Sometimes its just players dont fit the club, league or style of football.
But signing a player and immediately saying he'll prob take a season to settle is daft imo.
Should be saying you better get your shit togwther pronto tonto or you'll be benched.

Pretty sure the Gazzetta article is made up by adding 2+2. Word is out that a player is likely about to sign/has signed, and various reports are trying to have their best guess at who it is. What we can take from it, I think, is that a player is finalised. Now, let's wait with declaring who he is...

I know this is pretty low level debate, but you're just wrong really. Berbatov in particular really did have a fantastic first season in the Premiership. He was our player of the year and in the PFA team of the season. He scored 23 goals in all competitions, a tally he has never bettered since.

Suarez signed for Liverpool in January with them in 12th, scored from the bench on his debut and helped them finish 6th. I'll give you Modric but he was played out of position and struggled with injury.

IMO.. all these players that don't fit in or a long time to adjust... is the fault of the DoF / scouting system at the club involved. Over last 8 years spurs have had good scouts sacked (ian B.), DoF (comoli) sacked, and a questionable DoF appointment (Baldi) some years later... and 5 managers since 2007. When compared to Man Utd. / Arsenal.. we (fans and ENIC / THFC Directors) have not fully learned what is needed in a top club management system.. But hopefully we can move on now with Poch. Mitchell and Levy working together. COYS

Suarez scored 4 and then 11 in 1st and 2nd season in the epl.
Modric was considered lightweight and gave the ball away to much in his first season.
Berabatov took time to settle so no I'm not wrong.
They all took time to settle which was the point in the first place.

And of course Bale was never in a winning side for ages and ages. And you can add Chadli to the list of improved in second season as well. In any business it's always estimated it takes 3-6 months for someone joining to find their feet. Footballs no different. So all players will get better in time as they have to adapt to the culture, playing style etc. Unfortunately, some players loose confidence so don't step up, some players never get good enough and some players are good enough in the first place to get into the team.
