Sydney is the place to come to if you enjoy beaches, hot girls and a cosmopolitan lifestyle.
Melbourne is a town which has a massive chip on its shoulder about Sydney.
Brisbane is naff and Australia's version of Vegas .
Tasmania is full of bogans and South Australia is proof that the bogans can swim from Tasmania.
Perth is ok and a lot of ex pats buts its small and boring.
Come to Sydney as no-one regrets it and there is loads of spurs fans hiding over here, trying to escape!

So Sydney would be a good place to get a job in Finance? Hopefully there are companies that specialise in mortgages for expats, I would like to do that as that is what I do here.

I am applying for a visa at the moment to move to Oz, hoping to get there in about feb/march. Am I correct in thinking Sydney is the place to go, or is there a massive ex pats community elsewhere?

I was out there last year for ashes and found a great yid community in Perth that all gather at the Floreat Athena soccer club for games. Big clubhouse and bar with good lock ins. Apparently it all goes back to the mid seventies when Tottenham toured Australia and played in Perth for a game.

Sydney was ok in the Triple Ace Bar

Just arrived in Bronte, near Bondi. Im here for 10 months. Anyone else from here close by? Just a few questions......

1. Where can i watch spurs games in my area? Or do i have to go into the city etc?

2. Is there anywhere either in my area or in the city where i can buy one of the new shirts?

Cheers all.

You'll be able to see most if not all premiership games through Foxtel. I would contact the guys at Ozspurs (link in orignal post) for your local supporters club if your after that kind of thing. They have them in all major cities.

As for the kits i personally just get them online. You'll find if you do get one here they are normally more expensive than getting them online and delivered anyway.

Wayno you can see all the spurs games down the triple ace bar near Central or if its a big game it will be on tv down the coogee bay or maybe even the clovelly hotel if the timing is right?
Find someone who has Foxtel and IQ(same as sky plus) and you should be sweet, even better is finding a sheila with it as then you can have the best of both worlds :hump:

Nice one, thanks for that. I'll scout out those bars nearer to the time. Now to find a footy team to play for......Anyone?

Big cheers for the Oz Spurs fans who put the fans of the Woolwich Wanderers to shame.
Apparently, my mate Dave in Melbourne reackons there are SO many supporters groups that they have a Spurs convention every year.

Wheras, fans of the team from the Haemmarhoids Stadium, barely muster a few groups in the whole country. OZ IS SPURS!! Yes!

This sounds like someone who lives in Sydney. There is a massive UK expat community living in every city in Aus, not just Sydney, I live in Adelaide and played against a team on the weekend that were predominantly Scottish. I guess you chose your destination on what your looking for. I have been to most other city's and i much prefer Melbourne to Sydney. Sydney would have a much bigger Brittish community but most of them are here on temp visa's rather than perminant. I would say if you are looking purely for weather go to Brisbane, If you want the hustle bustle go to Sydney, if your looking for something a little more cosmopolitan go to Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth are pretty much the same, a lot cheaper to live, great family city's. Darwin if you want tropical storms and 100% humidity and Hobart is a large town not a city,
Melbourne is the best city for sports/music but there is probably less brits and more Italian/Greek communities compared to the others

I'm from RADelaide too originally, however am lucky enough to be in London on a working holiday visa, getting to the Lane for a few games!

I agree with pretty much everything above, but Perth isn't cheap. Adelaide is definitely the cheapest city (Hob, Dar etc just don't have the population to be counted as cities) and great for raising a family.

Melbourne is the place to be IMO. I wish I was going there when I get home, but the bag for life has spoken and it's back to RADelaide for me. A 'mate' at home heads the SA Ar5ena1 supporters (faggots) club, so I'll be finding the Yid Army of Adelaide and doing all I can to spread the good word about Spurs - COYS!

A few bits and pieces for the new season from OzSpurs...

We're now down to the final week before the new Premier League season. God it has been a long off-season!

In case you haven't visited the website or forum lately, here are the plans for each chapter.

SYDNEY
Meet in the Triple Ace at 10:30pm for a midnight kick-off. Get there early as we're expecting a big turn out!

For those who enjoy live football, Sydney FC play massive rivals Melbourne that night at the Sydney Football Stadium at 7pm. There will be a large Spurs contingent meeting at the Fox and Lion in Fox Studios at 4:30. The game will finish by 9 and will be followed by a meal and pub crawl before we hit the Aces for a sing song and some Tottenham!

The Triple Ace is located here - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...cbp=1,162.43901797543307,,0,4.497052844428992

MELBOURNE
We should make a big deal of the first game, have a few beers, get a bit rowdy, have a sing-song, watch the baggies beat the scum and then cheer the yids on to victory with a Darren Bent hat-trick just for good measure.

Get down to the Charles Dickens Tavern from 9:30pm or evening earlier if you want to watch the Victory in Sydney.

The Charles Dickens is located here - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...gQEbp2VOFfgvV1A&cbp=1,344.83299804685686,,0,5

BRISBANE
The plan is to meet at the Pig N Whistle Eagle St at 9:30pm and warm up by cheering on West Brom as they take on the scum in the season opener.

Our game against Boro is on at midnight. It will be shown on the big screen

We also hope to unveil our new Brisbane OzSpurs flag on this night.

Members of the OzSpurs Brisbane FC team will also be floating around and available for autographs.

The Pig n Whistle is located here - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...25051,152.86567&panoid=D_vVpQNgQEbp2VOFfgvV1A

PERTH
Kick off in the west is a very lovely 10pm and the OzSpurs will be meeting at The Irish Club.

The kitchen will be open until 8:30 so get down there early and make a real night out of it!

The Irish Club is located here - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...94761,115.82822&panoid=D_vVpQNgQEbp2VOFfgvV1A

ADELAIDE
Adelaide OzSpurs will be meeting at the usual spot, The Rosemont on the corner of Hindley and Morphett Streets.

Get down there early for a right old knees up. Kick off is 11:30.

The Rosemont is located here - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...2965,138.593841&panoid=D_vVpQNgQEbp2VOFfgvV1A

And just in case you aren't yet in the mood...

Hi all! I have inherited the 'SPURS' gene from both my parents and proudly afflict everyone who comes into contact with me. I too am from Adelaide - down in the Northern Suburbs... I love the relaxed pace of Adelaide. Although there seems to be a lot of development which will only mean that Adelaide becomes a busier place. COYS!!!!!!!

How's things, fellas? I'm off to Oz in a couple weeks so I'm hoping to find a place to watch the final & catch up with a few fellow yids at the same time. I'm starting in Melbourne so I guess I could be there for the final.

Cheers

Charles Dickens Tavern - an old English style pub located right in the city centre, you'll feel right at home.

If you are in Sydney you should come to the Gaelic club as that is where we had the final last year and there was 300 yids in there going mental!
They have confirmed that this has been booked so come on down!!

I heard from Oz spurs that they have lost their connection to fox and its too expensive to get it on for one night. They are having it in Score at star city but is restricted to 200 ppl. They have sold out tickets now!

Will the game be shown in the triple aces??? Anywhere else you can recommend?
