I'm off to Beijing for work in a few weeks. Any tips considering I don't speak or read the language at all?
Also any must do things I should add to the itinerary?
Where in Beijing are you staying and how long are you there for? Like most major cities in China now, most of the signs also have pinyin as well as the characters so you might be able to pick up place names relatively easily. They have a metro system which makes getting around the city pretty easy although the stops are a bit more spaced out than in London so it can be a bit of a walk if you aren't close to a stop.
There are obviously quite a lot of touristy things you can do there but it really depends how much time you have. If you just have evenings free then chaoyang circus is worth a look and Lao shi tea house as well.
Oh and any tips on dos and don'ts would be handy.
I live in Taiyuan, which is pretty similar to Beijing in weather. So right now it's about 15 degrees. Warm in the sunshine, chilly in the shade. Cooling down lots at night.
i feel so shame that you know beijing more than me who born in China....
Where in China?
Shanghai
Rightio - I'm in Shanghai for a conference this weekend. Where's the best place to watch or where are fellow spurs supporters watching?
