Thanks RS, got it at home now. In fact just opened a non-alcoholic beer (not got my license yet) and looking forward to the live Spurs / Manure game.

Try the "Umm al Quwain run" for all your alcoholic needs. Or try the duty free :)

The missus and I are thinking of going to Dubai as we have to use our Virgin air miles.

Ideally we're looking for an apartment in March with close (walking distance) easy access to Jumierah beach. Internet access preferable. Although we can do a hotel at a push. We're looking at around £500-£600 for around 6 nights. We found a nice apartment (Oasis Court Hotel) but its a bit far away from the beach. Found another one (Marina View Apartments) that looks OK

Does anyone have any suggestions where to look/book or have any travel tips?

Many thanks in advance.

Mate id strongly suggest the hotels, most of them are in great locations. Taxi's over their are also reasonably cheap, and you will be able to get from one place in dubai to the next furthest that you would realistically be going for less then a tenner.

Jumeirah beach is beautiful, but if you ask me, slightly out the way from most of the inner city shopping malls and food places - although pretty close the emirates mall (which is by far the best mall their, with an indoor ski slope too).

Ive stayed at the jumeirah beach hotel and the grand hyatt, and both were great - the jumeirah beach hotel is just opposite the burj al arab, beautful views and a great family environment, and next to a water attraction (wild wadi) - also next to the beach, so look into prices their.

Lovely country though in general. Definetly one of my favourites.

You might find the hotel prices have dropped dramatically, given that a load of people have been laid off and projects shut down. I' be tempted to go direct to the hotels and try and negotiate a deal, the worst they can say is no.

Its the Time Cafe at Maktoum Bridge for me. Decent atmosphere but most importantly the first game I ever saw there was Spurs 5 - Gooners 1 with an rabid Arsenal fan.

Happy days. :)

Come on you Spurs!!!!

Watching tonights game on Spurs TV online. Crap stream though

Hey guys.

I'm going to be out to Dubai for the Villa game. Where would be the best place to watch it? I'm staying on 16th Street, next to the British Embassy/creek.

Is it just get a taxi to a big-name hotel? I'm sure we get satelite TV but no idea what channels. Its the 16:00 kick off so I should imagine everyone would have it? The missus booked an apartment though so no hotel bar as such.

Many thanks in advance.

Punky - the Underground bar @ Al Habtoor Jumeirah Beach will have it on. Most bars will show it.
Anyone tried the sports bar in the Hilton? Clever layout- the way they've put the dart board right by the entrance so the oche doubles as the doorway makes walking into the pub slightly more interesting.

Doesnt anyone get showtime? Its so much more easier / and cheaper to watch it at home (plus doesnt piss off the missus). Not that many Spurs fans about anyway.

If you must go out - try the ramee hotel next to maktoum bridge - got all games on at once.
