Im gunna ask in here as i reakon my thread would get locked in chat as its to do with Israel and will get into a massive political slagging match. How easy is it to visit Israel from UK at the moment? I try and keep up with all the goings on but just wondering from your point of view? Basically will it be quite straight forward or will there be a few hoops to jump threw? Any advice would be appreciated

Don't think there will be a problem Riggi. Have been going since '96 and yes you get pulled into a room and questioned at TLV but as long as you know where you are going and (if) you are visiting people you know where they live you will be alright. Bring me back some Goldstar please ;-)

If you have any tips about where to go etc, would be appreciated. Im thinking of going on my own at some point, probably after the world cup.

I wouldn't have thought, well I never did unfortunately!! ;-). Goldstar is the beer they drink over there.

In regards to place to go there is a hell of a lot to do. I never like Tel Aviv much so used to give it a wide berth. I spent most of my time in the Galilee are, which is an amazing part of the country. Go to the Yardenit near Tiberias. It is the place where John the Baptist baptised Jesus. We used to love it as you get all the septics getting baptised and screaming Hallelujah. Good for the comedy value alone. There are some nice beaches down there. Go to Rosh Hanikra on the border with Lebanon. Is an interesting musuem there about the Irgun and them fighting the Brits. The Golan Heights is very picturesque and we did a brilliant rubber ring ride down a river there. Akko and Haifa are nice cities as well.
In the south there is obviously Jerusalem. The Wailing Wall, The Garden Tomb and the Arab quarter of the old town are all worth a visit. Yad Vashem (The Holocaust Musuem) is one of the most moving place I have ever been. Further south you have Masada (a massive fort on a mountain) which is great fun and then go for a dip in the Dead Sea.
I have a fair few mates out there and I am sure they would be happy to help with any more info you need.

Overall it is not as bad as people think unless you are near the West Bank or Gaza. Just take the normal precautions you would in London and don't use the buses!! ;-)

Ricky, What travel agent do you use? Im thinking about booking it soon for may/june. Also, what airport do you usually fly to?

I used cheapflights.com and fly into Ben Gurion. If you need a contact over there let me know and I will contact some mates over there.

Hey guys!

I'm going to Israel in December for holidays. Must admit that I'm a bit curious about what sort of questions the airport police will ask you upon arrival to Tel-Aviv. Is it true that they will pulled you into a room and ask all kinds of questions?

Sorry for my skepticism, but I've never experienced such situations before.

Btw! My mates and I are planning to go see a football match when in TLV, which local club has the best atmosphere, and what are the price levels for Ligat HaAl ?
