Hello.

I am London lad who may have just secured a six month job in Bergen.

What's life like round there?

Any chance of footy matches being shown regularly?

What's the cost of living?

Will I live on £27 an hour?

Any of you live in Bergen?

Hello! I live in Bergen.. Life in Bergen is good for me , but i`m from a small town so i don`t know how it will be for you.

On a pub called The Scotsman you will be able to watch almost every spurs match.

£27 an hour is good.. depends on what you do/your education.

When are you moving ?

I work in banking.

The initial offer is basically:

* They will pay me £27 an hour.

* They will pay for my accommodation in Bergen.

* They will pay for my flights and a couple of my girlfriends flights to go over there.

* They would like me to start end of April.

How much do you normally spend per week there/What's the cost of living?

Sounds like a good deal to me!

I normally use about £150 per week.

Examples :
1l Milk £1.3
Bread £0,3-£2
A good meal on a restaurant £20
Beer in the pubs/nightclubs £4-£10

Just ask me if you want to know the prices on anything else:wink:

I live in Bergen, and its very expensive compared to the UK - My girlfriend lives in London atm and whenever over there is seem to get much more for my money.. Prices are like Joleik says..A bit different from what you are used to.. But Bergen is a beautiful city, and you´ll enjoy it..

Where will they put you up to live?

I am not sure where I'll be living just yet, but the office is on Strandgaten.

What about if I don't speak a word of Norwegian? How does the non-Norwegian cope with language issues?

Most norwegians speak very good english .. At work we have a couple of people from australia, and they have no problems.

Have you accepted the offer?

Not yet. Am waiting to speak with the manager up there. I worked for the London branch before so they didn't even bother with the interview, I haven't even met the people yet.

If they let me know when they want me to start and what sort of accomodation is in store for me then it won't be long before I make a decision.

I've been looking at some photos of the place. It looks cool. I just hope that I'm able to fit in ok for the duration.

I may have to get one of you guys to show me the cool stuff. And of course meet up for games, as there'll be no more visits to the Lane for a while...

I have tickets for the Liverpool game, and if they want me to start before then I will have to give them up!!

It's crunch time for me! Leave my wordly possessions and explore the fjords, or stay home and get sweaty when summer hits the city.......

I`m sure that you will have a good time in Bergen. And I`ll easily take you on a guided tour when you get there!
There is usually alot of spurs fans on scotsman for every game, so that should`nt be a problem.

I will arrive on the 3rd!

Not sure what time, but I'll probably be too late for the Reading game.

A.S.E.... you will have a fantastic time, it really is the best country in the world to live in, I can't wait to move back! The only thing that I would say is it's really easy to sit back and not bother learning norewegian (everybody speaks english and wants to speak english!) but make the effort. I found you get a lot more respect off people and you feel more intergrated.

I'm guessing your on around 300NOK per hour which is a very good wage. Things (mainly the luxuries) are a bit more expensive, most notably beer! but you can still live on the basics for around the same price as what you do here. You will have an amazing time and really wont want to come back I promise you.

PS They dont do rounds over there so if you go out and buy 10 people their drink, dont think your drinking free for the rest of the nite ;-)
