Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Ecuador international Piero Hincapie. According to a report from Bild, the 20-year-old was a target for the Premier League club during the summer transfer window as well and Spurs were prepared to pay €40 million for him back then.

Hincapie has done well for Bayer Leverkusen this season and it is no surprise that his performances have caught the attention of the Premier League.

Didn't he have some favourable contract situation for suitors? How has he played at world cup?

looked tidy for Ecuador at WC.
If a club's going to sign a player, they should base the decision on scouting a far bigger body of work than just a handful of games at a major tournament. In fact, 'd be tempted to ignore a player's form at such events simply because a major tournament's so far removed from the week-to-week grind of the domestic season.

We were linked with Hincapie way before the WC. These days it would be extremely amateurish to do that in any case.

We are missing an Ecuadorian and some others TBF. We have a Brazilian, an Argentine, a Colombian and a Uruguayan.

If we need an Ecuadorian, we should really take Estupinan. The guy would be a massive improvement on any of our current wing backs.

On FBref his stats say he is similar to Romero, Davies and Bastoni. Would be a good deal, probably next Summer though.
