All good. (y)
I highlighted the Suarez bit because of the 'toothless remark' which given recent circumstances I found hilarious.

Liverpool Suarez' impact on them was HUGE and can very well be compared to the impact of Bale on us. Granted they are a good team, but replacing Suarez 70 goals in 110 games won't be easy and I expect them to finish outside the top 4 this year. Whether we finish above them or below.. well that is just too early to tell. They may well sign Lovren but that is just one defender - they will most likely need to get another 3 with Skrtel and Agger being off.

Has it been confirmed Skrtel and Agger are off, they'll be paying out huge amounts this window to get more CB's, seems as though all prices have been doubled at the moment

Replacing 31 goal Suarez with 13 goal lambert.
Add to that breaking of the Suarez/Sturridge partnership.
As mentioned they will have to shop well to be as lethal as they were last year.

They have offered Agger to Barca and Skrtel is constantly linked away. But no, I haven't seen any confirmation.

That's how I read it as well. Suarez has been Liverpool's one genuinely world class player, and possibly the best all-round striker in Europe.
Last season, defenders were forced to concentrate on Suarez and inevitably left space for his colleagues to exploit. Next season, however, Sturridge, Sterling etc. will have to create their own opportunities and, as they demonstrated in the WC, they weren't quite as good as they thought they were.

Lovren isn't worth 18m. If Liverpool want to pay that it's fine by me.

Totally agree, if that figure is true you're talking over 40 million for Lallana and Lovren - that's a criminal overspend. We spent that much last season and got Eriksen, Capoue, Chiriches, Chadli and still had cash in the bank.

Prefer Schar or Veltman at half the price

We have Sturridge & Sterling to score us goals before we even get to Suarez's replacement who will be a proven name rather than potential this time (Jackson Martinez and Lukaku are the latest names brought up).

Even if you take away Suarez's contribution last season we still match Arsenal's performance. As I've said many times we have lost Suarez for well over half a season through suspension, yet we have always performed well despite this. His last ban we only lost 1 game during this.

Agger is available for transfer so he could be off but he's been very poor since BR came in, especially physically, he gets bullied by even moderately strong/powerful strikers. Skrtel is going nowhere however and he, along with Sakho, Ilori & probably Lovren will be the 4 CBs for nest season.

If I'm brutally honest the teams I am fixated on for this season is Arsenal & Utd because they're the teams most likely to finish above us after good transfer windows so far (if AFC do get Sanchez, Schneiderlin, Debuchy & Bender) and Utd having a top Manager again.

Unlike the last few seasons I won't be as obsessed with Spurs & EFC's performances until its clear we ain't coming top 4 and a battle for EL is then on.

No England player looked anywhere near impressive but thats more down to Hodgson than the actual players.

You can say that now but we have no idea whether those fee's will prove money well spent or not.

If Lovren's addition has a very positive effect on our defence and it improves significantly, and Lallana does well and provides a decent amount of goals and assists to help replace Suarez's, and we finish top 4 again, then I think it will be seen as a good investment.

If though, its a very big IF for either side of the argument at the moment.

Just a quick question as a Liverpool fan, why are you on Spurs community ?

Suarez not only scored goals, he created them as well. Lallana is chiefly a creator and while he is good, he's nowhere near Suarez's level as far as all round attacking game is concerned. Correct me if I'm wrong but in terms of chances created Coutinho is still a better option in that position than Lallana. Lovren for all his qualities is nowhere near the valuation Saints have put him at and if that kind of money does in fact change hands I'm fairly confident that we wont be the only ones who will be remembered as a club who got a ridiculous amount of money on a world class player and squandered it. In fact we'd probably be better off because where you lot spend 20 odd mill on a single player we can get two and still have change to spare.

Bottom line is this. Replacing Suarez is not going to be easy no matter what anyone says about the brilliant Brendan Rodgers and his coaching credentials. 2013/2014 it was Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling. 2014/2015 it most likely will be Sturridge, Lambert and Sterling. Hardly an upgrade no matter how you look at it. It's easy to say that we messed up the Bale transfer money but we didn't spend 35 mil on Andy Carroll did we?
