Nigel Reo-Coker will be sold in the January transfer window after his astonishing bust-up with Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill.
Tottenham are keen to sign the midfielder, 25, for £6million.
Spurs tried to sign Reo-Coker in August and will resume their interest.
The training ground clash on Thursday between O'Neill and his player will not be swept under the carpet.
A club insider said: "Martin's word is law and he will not allow his authority to be questioned in this way.
"As soon as the opportunity becomes available Reo-Coker will be moved on.
"It was a staggering confrontation. There were no punches thrown but a load of swearing, pushing and shirt pulling.
"The manager was probably wrong to get involved but he will have the final word and that means curtains for Reo-Coker."
