Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Southampton keeper Alex McCarthy this summer as they look to bolster their options between the sticks ahead of next season.

We already have another talented keeper in Gazzaniga, so I see no reason to go for McCarthy. Vorm looks to be gone upon the end of his contract and Gazzaniga should take over the number two spot behind Hugo. I would rather see Austin or Whiteman get a look as the third keeper instead of singing McCarthy. We have some talented Academy players that we should look to fill out certain squad roles.

If we were going to acquire a keeper in the summer we would be better served to pick up Jack Butland as he could potentially push Hugo and has a nice amount of experience in the PL. However, the money should really be spent on finding a replacement for Dembele instead of signing a third choice keeper.

How would we know?

he is 26, with 22 PL appearances in the last 6 years, plus 32 in Segunda Division in Spain. I doubt any of us have seen enough of him to know if he could win a League Cup or FA Cup - let alone step in for Lloris over a long period of time.

Right now, I think he is a good 3rd string Keeper - one we can use in an emergency.

Good point, I agree it is difficult to judge how good Gazzaniga can be for us on his performance against Palace (as well as his time with Southampton). Hopefully he gets some games in the preseason and Carabao Cup next season so Poch can further evaluate Gazzaniga. It makes you wonder what plans Poch has for Gazzaniga at Spurs, and if he can't get any matches then if will be very difficult to determine if he can cut it.

Totally agree, really think Gazzanigga can be a great keeper in time.
We could do with a hard working ball winner and someone to stand in for Toby when he moves.
