Spurs have reportedly switched their search for a left sided midfielder to Scotland with an interest in Kilmarnock's Steven Naismith.

Fans favourite Naismith who has been nicknamed the 'Milkybar Kid' by supporters usually plays as a striker for Kilmarnock but can also play on the left side of Midfield where Spurs would be looking to utilise his services.

The Daily Record in Scotland claims Spurs have shown an interest in signing Naismith if their attempts to bring Watford's Ashley Young to the club fail.

Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly previously had an interest in Naismith but to date no firm bid has materialised.

The sad fact is that I can't remember the last time a Scottish player genuinely made an impact on the Premier League (not in a Duncan Ferguson way).

The past ten years have seen some average, gritty cult heroes here and there but nobody who you'd really get excited about signing.

The sad fact is that Scottish Football suffered from something that many believe could befall the English game and that is too many Foreign imports forcing out the native kids from the big clubs that traditionally brought through some of the best players in Europe for decades. When you look at the Goons and Chelski you could easily read Rangers and Celtic for their negative impact on developing talented English youngsters.

You're right to point out the last ten years as the result but the process began in the 80's with Rangers and their English / foreign imports. So years later no youngsters came through. This is changing rapidly now and Scotland has a group of very useful youngster at under 17's to u21's that are playing at places like Motherwell, Hibs, and Aberdeen. So don't be surprised if they do start coming back to the EPL. I for one would love to see a Kenny Dalgleish or Dave MacKay type of youngster playing at Spurs in the future.
