Talks have been going on for the last six months but no agreement is in sight because Eriksen wants to be paid on a par with striker Harry Kane and World Cup winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

I hope this isnt true, there cant be any argument surely that he is worth every bit as much as them?

Agreed, he makes our team tick. We’re poor when he doesn’t play. If the club can’t see that I’d question what they are watching on match days.

While no one is irreplaceable, Eriksen is the close. His creativity is excellent and he should be rewarded with a new contract, I am sure that this is just the Mail being its usual self.

Shame I guess that was erroneous info that he'd agreed a new deal. Or maybe it was agreed but the lack of ambition in the transfer market made him question his long term future.

Somehow, the greed in football becomes even more abhorrent when somebody like Eriksen, who always strikes me as a thouroughly decent person, is wallowing in the trough with the rest of them. Yes, he's on a par with the very best, but there is still that element of unquenchable greed to reconcile.

It doesn't appear as though he is making outrageous demands for a wage rise and surely the longer Spurs continue to dither about the less confidence he has that the club appreciate his overall contribution. I wouldn't necessarily say "however much it takes to keep him" but if the guy is being reasonable and simply looking to be on par with Hugo and Harry salary wise then fair enough, because he certainly matches them with level of performances.

Wrong. Just wrong.

Eriksen has proven his importance to the team and deserves to be paid at that same level as the most important players. He has every right to ask for it and feel devalued if he doesn't get it.

....and now you bring me this.

Tis' the Weekend, how very dare you.

Anyway, there is a reason many of the top clubs around Europe would jump at the chance to sign.

Care not for any..." if we pay him x amount, others will want more" ramblings. He's as important as Kane and parity in wages should be a given.

You want the best, you have to pay top dollar.

Right, pub.

I'm not criticising Eriksen, I'm just sick of the greed in football. Maybe I'm a bit sensative because I've just had eye surgery where I have been treated and looked after by amazing people who do incredible things that are life changing. The surgeon who operated on me probably earns less in a year than a moderate footballer earns in a fortnight, and the nurses earn in a year what a top footballer earns in a day, and still it's not enough.

And those two wins must surely make him wonder what is going on. No, it is not down to transfers. It's a question of money. Just pay him. Im not saying give toby 150k. But Christian is the heart of this team. If he wants parity with Kane then it's justified.

Oh look, we have a game against one of the media's favourite clubs, and here they are trying to stir things by making claims when they have little knowledge of what's going on.
Shocker!!!

Not that brave really. Go the pub quite often. :p

EDIT: Feck it. Pettycoat Patrol says she doesn't want to go to the pub, she says she's tired and would like it if we went out to dinner later.

He's going to earn a lot of money wherever he plays. I'm sure entering his prime he wants to believe he's at a club that's going to win things.

If we don't pay him £200k here, he'll have no problems earning £200k at Barcelona, PSG or any other elite side. You cannot replace a player of his natural calibre without spending that kind of money. He is our creative metronome and is as essential as Kane, Jan, Hugo, or even Poch.

If we want to win things and be elite, then we need him.

Pay him. Time to step up.
