This is not too recent but here is a video of the Malaysia Spurs AGM, complete with highs and lows for the West Brom game and a visiting yiddo on his travels.

Sorry I've only just noticed this thread. I was in Malayia last month reporting on the Liverpool games. Amazing country. Never been so hot, and I thought Brazil was warm. Amazingly met a member of the spurs supporters group in KL.

Appalled you didn't look me up, THOWIG. Appalled and offended.

Drop me a line next time and I'll point you in the right direction for a good beer and night out.

I'm sorry Bill. I had no idea until I came back. I'd been to Japan, which was equally hot, to watch some games but have to say the support in Malaysia was incredible.

Next time I will.

If you're out with BO, be sure to check the Adam's apple of any young ladies he introduces you to.

I'm just glad you're keen to come back. :)

And there's every chance you will as we're getting top sides every summer now. United last year and Liverpool, Chelsea and the Gooners this. Malaysia pays the clubs a fortune and, as you say, the fans make it a cracking atmos.

The interesting thing is the change between the summers of 2010 and 2011. Last year with United, basically every single one of the 90,000 fans wore a red jersey and were supporting United. It was much more even this time. Yes, largely because the bulk of footy fans here follow United but also it's now much, much more socially acceptable to publicly support the national team again. In the past 12 months they've won the Southeast Asia cup and the Suzuki Cup, which was a big upset. They've captured public imagination again and so the big crowds make it an even better night out. They even have 'ultras'!

It's very eye-opening for British footy fans and the reason that frankly, controversial though I know this is, I think English-based football fans should be the last consideration/voice in any discussion about a "39th game".

Or indeed any of their other bulges.

They were slightly confused by the fact I live in Manchester but was a Spurs fan and wore a Dortmund shirt to one game.

One of the things I loved about KL was the food stalls that opened underneath the cities flyovers. Incredible food.

I am moving to KL in a couple of weeks. Naturally the Mrs and I will be keen to find places showing matches, so any recommendations would be great!

Also interested in TV/broadband packages if anyone has experience with what is best? Oh and I'll need a bank account too, who is best?! :-D

IIRC... There are fans that meet up in KL to watch the match.

For banks... Maybank i guess. Think it has the most number of atm and branches. But tat also means lots of customers. Maybe ABN Amro? For cable tv no choice. Just Astro i think

There is a outdoor big screen in the square just opposite Jamek Mosque, you can catch the occasional spurs match there as well. But they'll switch it off if it starts raining heavy.

Hey all, random but wondered if any of you can help me...

Anyone know of a decent point and shoot digital camera fairly cheap? (Please don't suggest any Samsung!) Or know of any place in KL to get some advice?

Cheers :)

It's all about Low Yat. Head for the Canon iXus - there's tons of places in Low Yat Plaza - I got mine in centre court, ground floor if it help - ask for the range and choose the one best suited to your budget. :)

I've had various different iXus-es (iXi?) over the years and have been ace. But a mate just got a Panasonic Lumix, which he said is even better than iXus for our typical use.

Dying mate. On the verge of closure. Very quiet these days and BB Plaza is being closed for the huge new MRT project to build better transport links in the middle of town.

Cheers guys. My first digital camera was a Lumix and I remember it being better than all my friends (show off). Just read some reviews on the latest models and I'm pretty much sold if I can get a good price in Lowyat

Whaaaat BB is closing?! Do you know when?

Hope to see you at Sid's on the 18th!

:)

I've lost count of the number of times attractive women on here have arranged to meet me at the pub at the end of my road... however, I'm pretty sure the number is now one. Oh, no, hang on. I'm not sure it counts but ShadyRay and I did that once. He even came back to my place. Not that that's what I expect, you understand. And my missus would probably raise an eyebrow... anyway, yes, see you down the road on the 18th! :)
