Tottenham have missed the deadline to take up the option of extending Fernando Llorente's contract, signalling the end of his career in north London.

The option to renew Llorente's deal by 12 months expired on Saturday - and unless there is an unexpected turnaround the striker will leave Spurs after the Champions League final in Madrid on June 1.

In an alternate reality, this means we have a new striker lined up.

We might offer him a contract on different terms once the old one expires.

Incoming llorente hat trick in the CL final to convince poch to give him a new deal. Very clever by Mauricio.

Missed/decided not to extend, I suspect the latter but why let that get in the way of suggesting some kind of mistake or incompetence.

For his contribution in the second half against Ajax, for that goal against City, for the third against Dortmund at Wembley that eased our way to the later rounds, he's delivered in absolutely critical games and when we played to his strengths. All three games he came on as a sub. If we actually win this thing he'll have more than earned his medal.

Not to say that this summer might not be the time to part ways but he should always have the warmest of welcomes at WHL, as a player or ex-player.
