Having chopped and changed their squad in recent seasons, it is the current Tottenham players who have a point to prove - not the manager

The players need to take the responsibility here. If they are not willing to learn how to play Poch's style or question it, without trying then they need to leave.

We can't just keep changing the manager.

If the players know they can just stay around pick up a pay cheque whilst making the atmosphere for the new coach bad in the knowledge that they will outlast him and possibly play for a new manager, then we're doomed to repeat that cycle.

I would fully back a cull of our slackers and/or those with a bad attitude.

Otherwise you're not really giving the new man a chance are you?

My money is on Levy backing the Manager this time with the players carrying the can for bad results. Missing out on Schneiderlin was a blow because he would have brought the Pochettino ethos straight onto the pitch. I don't see many similarities between us and Southampton's style with regard to intensity so far but we have to be patient.

There is a trend of the players not really trying for managers now, I still think AVB philosophy, which we never saw properly as out would've taken a few years to instil, has good tactics if followed properly (obviously you need to handle relationships too which wasn't his strong point).
As above a bit worrying if players think they can bum around then have a new manager when the current one is kicked out.
In recent years there is something in the team ethos and attitude that really stinks.

I think the telling ime will be the January TW. If poch thinks he can utilise some of the younger players and get a better reaction than some of the first team squad then I think he will let the slackers go and see what the better U21 players can do.

To me the players always the ones letting the team down. Managers come and go but the players are the ones letting the fans down.
Not so much the winning but the perceived effort put (or not) put in.
Really think we are in for a long season this time around.
In total agreement with DB1's post .

You only have to remember the WBA and then the Besiktas game to see the players are not pressing the opposition. Besiktas did what we are supposed to be doing!
In the NLD we seemed to change tactics and sit back to counter attack. Nearly worked too.

Up to a point, but when Sherwood refused to play a DM and we got turned over I don't think the blame was 100% with those on the pitch. With regard to DB1's post, Managers get sacked all the time but players never do.

So yet another cull of the squad is coming?
Well done Pooch - that really is going to motivate them.
If, like Ramos, he thinks Levy is going to bring in a whole new team in the next few windows, then he will be disappointed. And the squad will mutiny in any case leaving him dangling.

If Pooch wishes to survive, he needs to get to the bottom of why the likes of Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho and now Eriksen are not really firing. Devise a system that suits them. And quickly.

I can see it now:

Poch identifies 5 first team squad players with the wrong attitude who won't learn how to play for the team. Levy finds 5 buyers for them and gets a good price.

Poch identifies 3 youth players ready to step up and buys 2 new players who he wants.

SC goes mental at the manager not being supported as we sold for more than we bought.

The club must back Poch or else we are back to square one. Some of our players have been terrible and there is no excuse for them. They will end up going or sitting in the reserves. Poch has shown the way in not putting the disinterested and truly awful Paulinho in his recent premiership sides.

The squad has needed trimmed for some time. He's been in the job a few months. He'll know who he doesn't want/need by Christmas. A few out and maybe one in come January is hardly a cull and is realistically what we'll be seeing.

After the QPR game, we have not used the pressing game.. in fact teams have out played us. West Brom for example. Again we are unable to battle the opposition MF, see the pass to forward / wings and move the ball quickly, too much sideways and backwards passing. Thusrday's game a good example of opposition, moving the ball It is time we played with 11 men and not 9.. which has been happening.. Ade, Pauli, Ericsson, Townsend Vlad, etc. Once Poch. can sort them out we will see improvement, and in Jan window get rid of slackers, those not good enough for the Poch. systems.. If soldado played the VDV role with ade we will see a huge improvement, once we got the ball into the box from the wings, and MF.

I remain to be convinced that Poch is the real deal, but Levy has painted himself into a corner where he has no choice but to back him. I for one will be joining the 'Levy out' camp if he doesn't.

Eddiebailey ,

What do you mean by "real deal" though ?

I still believe that even in this day and age of money that a Clough+Taylor or an Ipswich era Bobby Robson could win the league on a budget .

The point I'm trying to make is that those managerial setups had incredible talent but that it is also incredibly rare .

Maybe Tony Pulis has it but will never get an opportunity to prove it . Or Nigel Worthington or Roberto Martinez ; the latter two certainly have their teams playing some exciting football - miles better than us .

In supposedly pursuing success THFC have sold their soul .

The whole push to one upfront is supposedly in aid of results but it's not as nice to watch as 4-4-2 .

How satisfying to have homegrown Harry Kane score a brilliant goal midweek . I'm sure the W.H. fans feel the same about Noble who has really stepped up this season .

THFC will turn you into a glass half full person unless you are careful .

I think Poch is OK and would rather keep him than change him for someone else in this pursuit of the elusive Clough-Taylor's and Robsons who could not thrive in the atmosphere Levy creates anyway .

Irrespective of the style and tactics employed did Sherwood not say the same after the Chel$ea game last season?

I am not condoning either, just saying that what Poch is saying isn't anything really new about certain players at the club.

Have I missed something? What's Poch said?

The players, the D.O.F and the manager are are very average. Lets be real, Loris is our only world class player. The keeper..Jesus wept.
