Bertrand yes, as we could cash in on Rose and still have some left over after buying Bertrand. Loads if saints get relegated too hopefully.

Mawson; no.

I thought it was only a "double swoop" when they play for the same team? Also, neither are good enough or upgrades on what we have.

Not exactly an upgrade on what we have already, which is what we should be looking for where we stand at present.
Bertrand makes no sense to me - would prefer Tierney from Celtic, who will probably be cheaper.
Mawson - if the money is right and Toby is off would be worth a punt - seems to have a winning mentality and gets some goals himself.

Would prefer Shaw/Sessegnon to Bertrand as both are younger and have more upside. As for Mawson, decent CB but would rather see us get De Ligt as he could be world class one day and fits our style better than Mawson

Mawson; no.

Bertrand is older than Rose, and four years older than Davies – he's 30 next year. Dropping £25m on him seems obscene.

Then 40m on a centre back from a team who's about to get relegated and were only 5 points off relegation last season?

And people laughed at 35m for Sanchez having just been in a Europa final.

Surely there's better out there without the ridiculous British tax.

Perm any 2 from 20 rumours and you'd still be wrong.
Is it that time already?
KWP and Josh will fill a couple of gaps nicely
and Winksy to return too.
The team is getting older by the day
sign some youngsters
it will make Dele feel more senior and experienced.

Mawson has just turned 24. Young for a CB, with a lot of room for growth. And though he doesn't look it, If you listen to him speak, he's actually a very bright lad. London boy. Has been called into 1 England squad, so Southgate and his coaches see something in him too (not that England are blessed with depth of choice at CB).

I say yes, absolutely take a hard look at him.

There´s one key fact that speaks to Mawson´s advantage: he´s left footed.

Sanchez, Dier, CCV, Foyth as well as De Ligt are all right footed. The only proven CB we have that is left footed is Super-Jan. And he turned 31 in April.

Personally I hope and believe Verts can stay strong and be a part of our team for at least 2-3 more years. Maybe even more. But it wouldn´t be wrong to have a second left footed centre back in the squad. Preferrably PL-proven.

His most redeeming feature is that he’s left footed, and could be back up for super jan

Sideway transfers

Sideway? Not that good unfortunately!

Toby and Rose out with these two coming in would be a massive drop off in quality.

I’d rather not bother with replacements if these two are the options.
