We were poor tonight & if this is the team that goes into the first few games of the new season we'll be bottom at the end of Aug.
Jesus christ John, you must be right hoot to have a drink with.

If we stopped lloris playing in the WC final, or Kane and others a chance to make the finals.... We might as well of sold them before they went to the world cup as they wouldn't want to play for us this season.

LOL!!!! Clearly that wasn’t what I was inferring, I meant we knew they were going deep in the tournament which should have put even more focus on getting new players in early.

Kane has said he will play against Newcastle, and I would expect Lloris and others to do the same.

Yes the lack of signings are not helping. But I would rather sign no one that. Rush transfers through for the wrong players for the squad.

Some of the reaction to our reserves and kids losing to a La Liga side after travelling half way around the globe is embarrassing

It’s the team we fielded that was embarrassing 1 week before the season starts, not the result

Anyone interested or worried about any pre season results is a knob head

He asks daft questions, then rates the replies "wtf", so I'd file it under "want of understanding".
I post my views and questions and rather than you simply disagreeing with my post or posting what you thinks wrong with my post you result to personal insults so the wtf was certainly warranted fella.

I hope the 3 weeks holiday, the players have been given (after the world cup) weren't like my typical holidays. IE boozing it up, eating twice as much as required, then sleeping in til noon, then spending a full 1/2 hour on the bog. If that's what the players HAVE done, we're in deep doo-doo's.

Luckily, I suspect, the players are highly disciplined and have been training and watching what they eat & drink during that period, except Eric Dier, of course, who I reckon has tonked a few cold ones and sunk a share of curry's.

We'll be ok come start of the season I suspect.

As for tonights game, basically an under 23 side, who are probably still a bit jet lagged from the USA trip..and then having to contend with 30+ degrees C against a hardened group of men, mostly all 1st team picks...I am not surprised we got a tonking. These young players of ours will learn more about themseleves in these types of games than those we played in the USA.

A good pre-season was had by all in my book. We got better results, if that really matters, than I could have hoped for.

No, I actually asked a question and instead of answering it, you gave it a negative rating. This says to me that you have no interest in discussion, and are quite happy to rage post questions that you're not prepared to be enlightened on.

Calm down. Kane has promised to score in August this coming season.

For a club of our stature and size fielding a side of that strength the week before the league starts is worrying at best and disgraceful at worst
Our stature and size is the reason we are fielding a side of that strength a week before the league starts. We had nine players in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Dont think anyone cares about the result.if they do they are a fool.
Pre season is all about preparation.
If anything girona will be more annoyed that they didnt get the challenge that maybe they planned for.
My dissapointment was that it was such a weak side
The arguements are valid that it was impossible to field the side poch would have wanted to field and until the main squad report back Monday id say he wont even know till maybe Wednesday which of these players are in the right condition to play at the weekend however saying that he would have an idea in the back of his head if he has to field one of the youth centrebacks at the weekend or midfielders at the weekend which one it would be. Knowing this is would have been nice to see these kids paired with eriksen and sanchez tonight in preparation but can only assume poch deemed risk of injury being too great

Hope you’re right. The other positive is that the Geordies are probably as half baked as us.

Agree re incoming players but struggle to believe we couldn’t have got a couple in by now - Grealish being a prime example.

Rubbish your question was clearly a snidey remark and not geninue.asking a member since 2008 with over 5000 posts if it was their first season

Think theres a certain compulsory number of holiday days clubs have to give players a year and sadly the quota doesn't end until the Monday where as a lot of the players for other clubs came back early none of ours have offered to do so...or Poch has told them they must take the full holiday.
In the long run making them take the full holiday is probably the sensible thing to do.

My only concerns from pre season as a whole are.
Davies- has looked worryingly off most of pre season.
Llorente- has confirmed we can’t count on him at all.
Son- looks a bit jaded and lost.
Moura- Although he dies some great stuff he also does some really rubbish stuff. I think was pretty much the analysis I saw on him before he joined. I’m still yet to be convinced he’s good enough to improve 1st xi.

Everyone else did ok and Amos and Skipp certainly impressed in the states. I’m prepared to put today down to tiredness and heat. Sure flying in on day didn’t help either.

Surely there must be some sort of behind-closed-doors friendly lined up for the team that will play against Newcastle?

Between the World Cup and the typical Levy window, we seem to look even more unprepared than usual.

Hoping the lads aren't too rusty and Levy comes up with something this window tbh.
